GirlVentures 20th Anniversary Gala
For 20 years, GirlVentures has empowered girls to develop and express their strengths through outdoor adventure and leadership programs. To celebrate this milestone, our fundraising gala will honor several GirlVentures alumnae, feature bestselling author Caroline Paul, The Pearl’s artist Alexis Laurent, and the women entrepreneurs of La Cocina.
Our 20th Anniversary Gala will take place at San Francisco’s newest premier event space, The Pearl (thepearlsf.com). La Cocina will provide delicious food throughout the evening curated by Traci Des Jardins, two-time James Beard award-winner.
The evening will also include a VIP Event, an address given by Caroline Paul, a live auction with a fund-a-need paddle raise, and most importantly, keynote addresses from GirlVentures alumnae.
A perfect expression of creativity, vision and tradition, the Pearl is a one-of-a-kind venue complete with natural wood, steel beams, bespoke artwork, and gorgeous live greenery. The rooftop is a study in magnificence with 360° views and a lush rooftop garden. Designed to pay homage to San Francisco’s past while embracing the new landscape of high-tech innovation, the Pearl provides the perfect complement to our celebration.

Alexis develops artwork that deepens his interest in the dialogue between the natural world and the industrial one. His recent focus has been “living sculptures,” an assemblage of various materials – mostly metal – with living plants.
These sculptures stem from his love of nature and architecture and the potential to redesign urban landscapes. He believes that, as a society, the more we “go digital” the more we will need to “go natural.”
ALEXIS LAURENT
La Cocina, located in San Francisco’s Mission District, is both a commercial kitchen and an innovative business incubator that supports a growing roster of small businesses.
Food lies at the heart of this community, and you don’t have to look far to find hidden culinary artists in the kitchens of many homes. La Cocina was born out of a need to formalize these food businesses, creating a community of natural entrepreneurs with self-sufficient operations that benefit themselves, their families, the community, and the entire city. The food from La Cocina reflects their talents and passions and, quite simply, tastes amazing.
LA COCINA
