High Positive responses: 86% of parents were generally satisfied with the school. 90% + of parents indicated that:
This school gives my child opportunities to participate in school activities. (97%) This school treats my child with respect (94%) Teachers at this school expect my child to do his/her best (90%) Teachers are enthusiastic and positive about teaching My child feels safe at school
Low Positive Responses Only 65% - of parents indicated a positive response to:
My child is taught organisational skills to help him/her with managing homework and school work load. (35%)
I understand how my child is assessed (52%) My child has been bullied recently at school (57%) This school has a clear understanding of its strengths and areas for improvement (59%) My child feels confident about the skills and strategies he/she has learnt at school to address

TERM 4 As Term 4 is a Sun Smart term, all students will be required to wear a broad-rimmed hat when outside. These can be purchased from the Beleza uniform shop in Aitken Street. We would also like to remind families that if you are buying new school footwear during the holidays that these must be white, blue or black in colour with matching laces. A copy of our school uniform policy can be found on the Sentral Parent Portal. The approaching warmer weather will result in many jumpers and jackets coming off in the yard next term. Please ensure all student clothing is clearly labelled over the holiday period to avoid items being lost at school in the future. LOST PROPERTY Please remember to come and look in our lost property tubs if you are missing something. We have items ranging from unnamed jumpers to stuffed toys. All unnamed and unclaimed items will be sent to the Op Shop or given away at the end of term.
Dear families, Thank you to all those families who supported our Childhood Cancer Awareness Week this week. Many students and parents were quite moved to hear our Year 2 student, Edward, speak at assembly about his journey. Donations can still be made at http://www.thekidscancerproject.org.au/about-us/childhood-cancer-awareness-month
Well done to all the students who competed in the Division Athletics last Wednesday. Congratulations to Lucas J, Charlotte J, Caitlan W & Eleanor K, who are going through to the Region Athletics next term. Good luck! Thank you to all our families who supported our Scholastic Book Fair over the past week, a percentage of the profits from sales will be used to purchase new books for our library. Thank you! We would also like to extend our thanks to our Librarian Deb Hickingbotham for working tirelessly on this, and also to our staff helpers. Thank you to all our parents who attended Parent Teacher Interviews on Tuesday, we enjoyed discussing your children ’s progress with you. Just a reminder that tomorrow is Footy Dress Up Day (no donation required), and that the school canteen will be closed. Thank you to all students, families and staff for a great term, enjoy the holidays!
Regards, Lisa Maxwell

WALK TO SCHOOL MONTH Every October, Walk to School encourages Victorian primary school kids to walk, ride or scoot to and from school. The Walk to School program promotes regular physical activity in Victorian primary school students. It helps kids and their families establish active routines for life. It also supports primary schools, local councils and communities to make active travel easy, safe and accessible. Gisborne Primary will be participating in the Walk to School Program this year from 9th of October to the 3rd of November. More information will follow early next term.

PARENT PORTAL ONLINE PERMISSION Permission for most school activities can be granted via the Sentral Parent Portal, and payments can be made via Qkr!, Bpay, or CSEF. Permission for each activity need only be given once; should you complete permission online (this is our preference), there is no need to return the hard copy form. Hard copy notes will continue to be provided this term until parents get used to completing the online permission. In Term 4, permissions will be online only. ABSENCE NOTIFICATIONS The Sentral Parent Portal ‘Messages’ tab can be used to notify the school of student absences (this is now our preferred method). Families are able to explain a prior absence or advise of an upcoming absence. You can even advise of a late arrival, early departure, or a timed absence during the day. Simply select the date/s of the absence and advise us of times and the reason in the comments section. Once your notification has been sent, the absence will be processed by the school, usually within 48 hours.

GRADE 6 BADMINTON COMPETITION On Friday the 1st of September, the grade 6's participated in a badminton competition at lunchtime. Each game went for 4 minutes and there was a scorer and a timer for each game. For the past couple of weeks we have been practising badminton in P.E and it has really improved our skills. The teachers also had a go at playing but the students were able to beat them! We will continue to play until the end of term and overall it has been a really fun experience. Tash W 6C & Monty P 6B
