Research areas

The research interests of Dr. Calafiore are in the areas of optimization methods for uncertain and large-scale systems, robust control, robust convex optimization, chance-constrained programming, samplingand probabilistic methods for robust control and optimization, randomized algorithms, and machinelearning. Current areas of application include estimation over large-scale interconnected systems,sparse optimization in machine learning, consensus problems for autonomous agents and in mobilerobotics, sparse identification methods, and computational finance.

Publications

Dr. Calafiore has a record of about 164 scholarly publications. He published as a co-author 51 papers inpeer-reviewed international journals (including the top-ranked journals in the areas of systems, controland optimization, such as IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, Automatica, SIAM Journal onOptimization, and Mathematical Programming). He is co-author of 9 book chapters. He is co-authorof 3 scientific monographs, and he is editor of a multi-authored book published by Springer-Verlag.He is also author of 6 textbooks, and of 89 papers that appeared in proceedings of peer-reviewedinternational conferences. Dr. Calafiore H-index is 29, and the i10 index is 63, according to Google Scholar (as of Dec. 2015).
