Aaltoin Jyvskyl - Update 2Viitatorni High-Rise Apartment House in Jyvskyl (1960-61)

This post I would like to dedicate to a building which has become an important part of my every day life here in Jyvskyl, the

Viitatorni high-rise aparment house. I have actually never been inside the building but where ever I go in Jyvskyl I pass by this

building regardless if I am on my way to work or to any leisure activity. This buidling is such an important landmark in this town,

everybody knows it and it can be seen from almost everywhere in the city. Every time I pass by it fascinates me, especially its

structure and the way how it looks so different if you lookat it from different angles. I have taken hundreds of pictures of this

masterpiece of architecture from various locations in town during different seasons and daytimes. In this post I want to share someof those photos and hope you will find this building as interesting and fascinating as I do.

Finlandia Hall Update 1

The Finlandia Hall in Helsinki (1962-75)

This is another update to one of the greatest buildings designed by Alvar Aalto, the Finlandia Hall in

Helsinki. In July 2011 I reported already about the Finlandia Hall

(http://alvaraaltosarchitecture.blogspot.fi/2011/07/alvar-aalto-in-helsinki-and-turku.html ) and since then I

had visited this great building several times when I have been in Helsinki. As I learned at my last visit,

they organize regular guided tours throught the building. Unfortunately so far I wasn't lucky enough

being there at the right time to participate in one of those tours. Hopefully later I will be able to show

more pictures from inside of the Finlandia Hall on this blog. Nevertheless since the renovation was

completed in 2012 I have taken many new pictures from outside which I am presenting now here plus I

was also at least lucky to be able to take some pictures from the lobby inside the building.
