ABOUT LUMIERE & TRANSPARENCE© ?

PATENTED TECHNOLOGY

DURABILITY

CREATIONNUMEROUS

APPLICATIONS

Our multi-patented technology Lumière & Transparence© is not a surface processing.

The process consists in injecting directly inside the film transparent pigments.

- High definition images up to a large scale.

- Intense colours.

- Perfect transparency.

- No images or glue distortions

- With Lumière & Transparence© we are able to reproduce all your creations: images, drawings, photographs, texts, flat tints and colour gradations, cut out patterns...

- Depending on the effect you are looking for three type of opacities are available: Transparent base, diffusing base, opaque or metallized base.

- Our range of over a thousand colours enabling several different variations will be your base for creating flat tints, gradations, metallized colours gold, copper, bronze...

- In order to increase creative possibilities you may choose to combine this technology with our different films (Aurore, Funny, Angle-of-view...) or use our cut out patterns technology.

Our films may be applied on any smooth and non-porous supports: glass, plastic, lacquer...

They are mainly used in Architecture for multi-supports applications: building glass front, glass walls, glass roofs, shop windows, luminous walls and ceilings, dividing walls, handrail, interior decoration

We also work with :

- Artists: works, installations

AN IMAGE MERGING INTO THE GLASS...AN IMAGE MERGING INTO THE GLASS...AN IMAGE MERGING INTO THE GLASS...

PERFECT TRANSPARENCY

You wish to keep the initial aspect of the glass, its transparency, its purity ?

The unique transparency of our films enables to realize a kind of contemporary stained glass on the whole glass area : whites become clear making the film itself completely imperceptible once applied.

As shown opposite, glass dividing walls have been equipped with satellite sights still creating a separation but preserving the idea of space.

WALL AND CEILING LIGHTWALL AND CEILING LIGHT

The diffusing base is ideal for making backlit images on large surfaces such as walls and ceilings. The frosted glass appearance allows diffuse light: the building becomes a light box that highlights the volumes and furniture.

Here against the lobby of an office building in Washington. It is fully covered with glass panels backlit to highlight the plant graphics designed by Yann Kersalé.

The diffusing film enables to create interior layouts such as dividing walls, signs....

Daylight is uniformly diffused on the whole

treated surface through its frosted glass

looking and enables to create private

spaces. Several referencies are available for chosing the degree of translucence that you need.

Here against the artist Erick Derac used the diffusing base to create a bright fresh atmosphere, while hiding the view of the outside.

METALLIZED BASE TO ILLUMINATE YOUR BUILDINGS GLASS FRONTAGEMETALLIZED BASE TO ILLUMINATE YOUR BUILDINGS GLASS FRONTAGEMETALLIZED BASE TO ILLUMINATE YOUR BUILDINGS GLASS FRONTAGE

Metallized film is very performing for heat control but also reduces light intensity and rejects UV, infra-red and visible light.

This process has been used on the "Musée du Quai Branly" glass frontage for:

- its technical qualities: only enables 3% of visible light to get through, protecting works of art inside the Museum.

- its decorative qualities: combined with Lumière & Transparence© technology to reproduce a rainforest on a 1000 m2 front wall.

OUTSMARTING RULES OF OPTICS

For buildings glass fronts it is often necessary to emphasize the images so that they become visible from far away by any weather. To get an image even more intense outside, we recommend the use of a metallized base.

Its "one way mirror" enables to preserve transparency from the inside while the outside seems opaque.

The must: use this film for decoration, bringing into play its transparency when retro-enlightened.

FLATS TINTS AND GRADATIONS

INVITE COLOUR TO ENTER…

To tint glass has never been so easy! On a transparent base or on a diffusing base, on a opaque base or on a metallized base, you may create on a large scale flat tints or colour gradations merging into the glass.

A GOLD RANGE MADE TO MEASURE:

WE CREATE THE COLOUR OF YOUR

CHOICE ON A METALLIZED BASE

1. Serpentine Gallery, London,GB. Jean Nouvel studios.2. Elysée Secret Hotel, Paris.. ASAA studios. 3. Quai Branly Museum lobby, Paris. Jean Nouvel studios.

GOLD MADE TO MEASURE

Create your own specific range gold, silver or bronze range by choosing its colour and its density. Also imagine cut out patterns to create metalllized effects on glass.

We work with our own colour range, which is very similar to the Pantone CMKN range and offers over a thousand colours. It enables to confirm the colour on the film especially in transparency. If you don't find your tint we are able to modify a reference closed.

GLASS CONTROL

FILM QUALITY

CREATE A PATTERN WITH SPECIAL EFFECTS

Create patterns with metallized, diffusing, opaque, holographic or dichroic films to add effects on your glass walls or windows.

Any type of film may be used as cut out pattern, the only thing to do is to choose among our references or create your own colour thanks to our large colour range.

Then we work from your EPS vectorized file.

BY GIVING RELIEF TO YOUR WINDOWS

Cut out patterns enables to get astonishing light effects: light gets trough the pattern and play with its shadow on walls and ceilings creating a reflection distinct from glass reflection.

Opposite, the roof windows of Le Havre swimming pool covered up with cut out patterns in a white opaque film. The patterns play with the light and it is reminiscent of water effects.

HOLOGRAPHIC FILM

THE HOLOGRAPHIC FILM AURORE

1. Euralille commercial center, Lille, France. Jean Nouvel studios.2. TROUSSEAU hospital, Paris. Artist : Miguel CHEVALIER3. Christian Lacroix shop, Tokyo, Japan. CAPS agency.

The Aurore film is a holographic film with a metallized aspect. It diffracts light by reflection like a prism, creating a rainbow. Colours are variables following the angle of view and the viewer movement. Colours become pastel or very bright according to the luminous intensity.

Lumière & Transparence© technology combined with the holographic film Aurore gives life to images as soon as sun appears. Colours become electric or even explosive!

The combination of these two films is ideal to give a real dynamic to images: the holographic reflection enlightens colours and gives the impression that images are moving.

See above: The "Passerelle des pixels" of the maternity hospital spreading its bright colours on the passers by.

WHEN LIGHT INTERFERE…

The film "Funny" is a dichroic interferential film. It is transparent, lightly metallized and iridescent. Its characteristic is to show a colour while reflecting a distinct one. Therefore the whole surface covered up with this film changes colour according to the angle of view.

AMAZING!

Opposite, Erick DERAC, artist, transformed a classic wall by adding a few elements of the film "Funny" on the windows. Opposites, Charles KAISIN, designer, has been using this film for glass sculptures. In both cases, the goal is to create movement and change to surprise the viewer seeing the colour changing while moving.

ANGLE OF VIEW FILM TRANSPARENCY

IS IMPRESSIVE

In the example opposite, Laurent SAKSIK, artist, has been combining the film "Lumière & Transparence© " with the angle of view film to cover up the front glass wall of an upper secondary school in Lunel (south of France).

From the inside, the image remains clear but the view progressively changes until it becomes completely blurred. The passers by disappear to appear again few seconds later...

BLURRING THE VISION

3. Victor Hugo Highschool, LUNEL, France.. Artist: Laurent SAKSIK.

The angle-of-view film is a dense network film totally colourless and transparent. Its characteristic is to blur the vision depending on the observer position.

It enables to create stunning interior glass partitions and private spaces partially transparent unlike the diffusing film, which is opalescent on the whole surface.

Combined with our technology "Lumière & Transparence© ", it adds special effects on the image playing with its emergence.

This film exists in two references :

- GCVA.00.15.GD : Blur from 0 to 15° front and transparent on sides.

- GCVA.25.55.GD : Blur from 25 to 55° on sides, transparent front.

PREPARING THE PROJECT PREPARING THE PROJECTPREPARING THE PROJECTRR

HOW TO PROCEED LISTENING,

ADVISING,

PROPOSING,

CREATING

From the studies ,our clients express what kind of effects they are looking for.

Afterwards we propose technical or aesthetical solutions adapted to the project either with high quality products or by creating a film made to measure. Then we both write the specifications.

Finally we send to our client the elements needed to validate the choice:

AESTHETICAL ASPECTAESTHETICAL ASPECT

Our process enables to enlarge your image to the size needed.

The high definition image is cut out according to the layout of the glass. The image match can be nearly invisible (the size of a nylon thread).

You have to transmit the following files: Image, photograph: CMKN or .tiff or .eps, 300 DpiDrawings: CMKN illustrator en .aiText: vectorized CMKN or with bill of fount Cut out pattern: .ai or vectorized .eps

Our team is also skilled to create your graphic or photographic work.

We work with our own colour range (see the page on flat tints and colour gradations), very close to the Pantone© colour range, CMKN.

Very important: With this technology we do not reproduce whites. Becoming colourless, they merge into the glass even on a metallized or diffusing base (the initial colour of the film will become the background instead of white.

TECHNICAL ASPECT

To make your study and provide an estimate we will need:

For the estimate:

- An overall plan of the surface to be covered up and a detailed plan of each glazing system to be equipped.

For the technical aspects of the project:

- All the details concerning the glass: (nature, panel, glazing system, exposure etc.)These details will have to be given by completing the joined form: "risk of thermal shock fracture".

This study is automatically made in the case of an external use and enables to be in conformity with the DTU 39.1 and 39.4.To make this study we use specific methods elaborated with our professional partners: CSTB, CEA, CEBTP. We study solar factors and chooce of one or several films adapted for resolving problems concerning; UV protection, valuables protection, anti heat or dazzling.

- a full documentation with samples

- a range of colour on a transparent, diffusing or metallized base which enables you to validate the colour by transparency.

- A prototype made from your own file if you already have a precise idea of what you want.

EXECUTIONEXECUTIONEXECUTION

EXECUTION & WARRANTIES WE GUARANTEE

SERENIRY DURING

THE COURSE OF

YOUR PROJECT

Once we have validated the choice of the film and its technical setting, we may work according two different ways:

- In our studios:

Glass or plastic panels are delivered on frames in our studios, where they will be equipped. They will be carefully packed and sent on the building site one or two weeks later to leave them the time of drying.

- On the building site:

For existing buildings we are able to set the film directly on the windows or glass walls inside or outside. In that case, hiring of hardware (scaffolding, lifting basket) and travelling expenses will be added on the estimate.Working area must be protected from dust in order to obtain the best result.

WARRANTIESWARRANTIESWARRANTIES

Glace Contrôle films have been conceived for external or internal use on glass or plastic panels.

Therefore they are considered as decorative elements not being part of the close and covered building structure. Consequently, they are not concerned by the decennial guarantee.

* The "Triangle des Gares" and Euralille commercial center (Lille ,France ,Ateliers Jean Nouvel) are equipped from the outside since 1994.
