next cylinder in the following column (figure 4, a–b). Pick up a 150 seed bead, a 5 mm pearl, and a 150, and sew through the corresponding cylinder on the opposite flap (third column from the outer edge) with the needle point-ing toward the beadwork (b–c).2 Sew through the next two columns (c–d). Pick up a 150, a pearl, and a 150, and sew through the following corresponding cylinder on the other flap (d–e). 3 Sew through the next two columns. Pick up a 150, a pearl, and a 150, and sew through the following two corresponding columns on the other flap with the thread exiting an edge cylinder (e–f). 4 Pick up four 3 mm fire-polished beads, and place the beads under the flap

against the base (photo b). Sew through the fourth edge cylinder on the flap, with the needle pointing toward the beadwork (photo c). Pull the thread tight. Sew through the base to exit the cylinder your thread exited at the beginning of this step. Retrace the thread path through the fire-polished beads to reinforce the connection.5 Sew through the adjacent connec-tion cylinder with the needle pointing toward the beadwork (photo d), and continue through the adjacent cylinder (third from the end) in the same outer column of the flap without the fire- polished beads, with the needle point-ing away from the beadwork. 6 Repeat step 4, and end the working thread and tail. w
