With pleasure, I offer this Letter of Recommendation for Steve Glick, who is under consideration for the Director of Development position at the Hartford Stage.

I have known Steve for several years in the capacity of board member, and Chair of the Resource and Development Committee, for one of my clients, CLARE Foundation. Steve has always stood out among board members I have known over four decades of working with non-profits for his knowledge of philanthropy and his absolute determination to see a project to its successful conclusion.

He is in many ways the dream board member! Without his drive, CLARE Foundation would never have “changed up” its approach to an annual fundraising dinner so that it now provides a substantial portion of the annual fundraising goal. More importantly, because of Steve’s work on behalf of the dinner, its honorees and attendees, are now among the most significant relationships the organization has.

Steve’s vision for the Resource and Development committee is, without a doubt, the one factor that has allowed this remarkable organization, with its 40 year history, to step into the limelight on many fronts. He is knowledgeable about board development, individual giving – particularly major gifts, capital campaigns, foundations, and government funding, and has set the bar high for the staff to follow.

He is a terrific leader who exudes passion for special organizations that are close to his heart. CLARE Foundation happens to be one of them, but I know that his greatest abiding interest is for the arts. His background in the entertainment industry has given him many gifts of relationships and he is more than willing to share them.

Steve is fearless in advocating for something he is invested in and always delivers. He is a skilled manager of his time, efficient and detail-oriented, balanced by a curiosity about many things and an innate ability to find common ground with people from many walks of life. This has allowed him to absorb issues quickly and offer solutions from his perspective.

Steve is clearly a quick study and has become a valued and sought after member of the development team, as well as a highly valued leader! I would never hesitate to recommend him for whatever position in development that might be of interest to him and would imagine that the Hartford Stage would be handed a jewel should you attract his involvement.
