QU301: Rites of Passage into the Global Community

• Students will actively participate in education abroad by processing their experience as a Rite of Passage into the global community. Students will investigate traditional Rite of Passage theory and will develop goals targeting challenges that occur during each phase of the experience (i.e., a time to leave what is safe, known, and routine; liminality -- a time of self-discovery, growth, and learning; and reincorporation – a time to return home with a changed sense of self in which the student can explicitly identify and incorporate the skills/knowledge gained from this global experience upon their return home).
