Macaw (Metadata Collection and Workflow). Scanning workflow and ingest management tool. Based on “Paginator” (MOBOT), Macaw allows for creating robust page level metadata and pushing content to other repositories (e.g. Internet Archive and local storage) .
In January, 2012, a new application was added to the BHL administration dashboard that allows direct upload of images from BHL to Flickr, with embedded metadata and page links included.

• Digitize significant content relevant to African biodiversity
• Monographs, journals, archives, reports, "gray" literature
• Add accurate, full metadata to all contributions
Audience Building• Inform African biodiversity
communities (students, researchers, organizations) about the existence of BHL
• Explain how they can integrate BHL content into their work
• Promote and market BHL through multiple means (public relations, local events, print and audiovisual media)
• Use social media -- start a blog!
Content Identification
• Participate in the wider global BHL to identify gaps in digitized BHL literature, published anywhere, that will support biodiversity research on African taxon
• Use Gemini feedback to alert BHL US|UK to any errors found
Partnership Building
• Continue to grow the membership of BHL Africa
• Widen the partnership and increase cooperation across institutions nations and regions
