To summarizeIs there a `felt need’ for better education?
•YES this is universally true across all countries.
Are student going abroad ? •Yes – there are significant numbers from the 16 countries where we have researched
Where are they going
•Western World (USA, UK, Australia, Canada & France). Substantiated by both UNESCO statistics of student movements as well as primary research
Why are they going
•Better Education & •Future job Prospects (Only among developing countries – does not apply for KSA, Kuwait & UAE)
Market
•Mix of Public & Private education •Dissatisfaction with public system. Even private system not `up to’ the mark •West the benchmark for good education – and has a pay back (in terms of job opportunities – other than KSA, UAE & Kuwait)
Education Abroad
•Word of mouth – peers, relatives – critical•Past record – place, institute.•Better education, better jobs, opportunities•Lack of safety / security, accommodation, cultural acceptability, finance
How is Dubai Perceived ?
•Not known as an education destination •Perceptions not very strong – fun, hotels, tourists, Islamic, Arab
How is Knowledge Village Perceived ?
•Very strong concept – good on paper – but need to establish the credentials •Seems to be the ultimate solution … but is this possible
Do Dubai & Knowledge Synergize ?
•Currently done seem to be synergizing –but convergence does seem a possibility •Communication / Perception management the Key.•The big question – How do we build on the `word of mouth’ – first hand experiences
