The Global Difference Additional Therapies

Auto, Work & Sports-Related InjuriesWe also treat patients with musculo-skeletal pain that has resulted from the following:

• Auto Accident Injury – Patients recovering from an auto accident injury greatly benefit from physical therapy. We use therapeutic exercises to help restore balance, strength and range of motion.

• Sports Injury – Sports injuries are not uncommon and can be either acute (sprains, fractures, tears, etc.) or chronic (tendonitis, overuse, etc.). Our physical therapists are experts in using strength and stretching exer-cises to restore range of motion within joints and flexibility of muscles.

• Work Injury – If you are injured at work, come see us at Global Pain & Spine Clinic. We have been suc-cessfully treating Workman’s Compensation cases and we are an approved Workman’s Compensation provider. Our physical therapists will create a treatment plan that is custom-designed to treat your condition and circum-stances, and we will help ensure that you receive proper compensation by working with legal and financial rep-resentatives on your behalf. We also are certified to provide Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE) to determine the extent of your injuries and whether or not you are able to return to your previous job.

State-of-the-Art 10,000 Square-Foot FacilitySituated in our 10,000 square-foot modern, spacious facility, our leading edge equipment enhances our patient experience, and helps target and heal specific conditions.

All of our manual therapies take place in one of our nine soothing and tranquil treatment rooms, adjacent to our innovative exercise floor. These peaceful rooms allow our patients and their muscles to relax, as our one-on-one therapies ate your successful recovery.

At Global Pain & Spine Clinic, our multi-disciplinary philosophy enables us to approach physical therapy from a unique angle, incorporating many of today’s leading treatments and technologies to

help get our patients out of pain and on the path to better overall physical health and wellness. We employ manual therapies as well as select alternative therapies to aid us in our total body approach.

Gentle, Effective Therapies Since no two patients or conditions are exactly alike, at Global Pain & Spine Clinic, we believe in treat-

ing the whole patient and addressing individual needs and requirements. For that reason, we employ additional modalities and techniques to augment our personalized treatment plans, including:

Physical Therapy : Our physical therapy staff specializes in the treatment and alleviation of spinal and musculoskeletal pain. We use all of today’s available physical therapy methods to relieve pain from the spine or joints (shoulder, hip, knee, wrist, etc.) Our treatments take more time than the industry’s standard - approx-imately one hour. Additional time allows for one-on-one interaction with the patients bringing time-effective and lasting treatment solutions that help get you out of pain and on the road to better overall wellbeing.

Manual Therapy: Manual physical therapy is a specialized form of physical therapy delivered with the hands as opposed to a device or machine. In manual therapy, practitioners use their hands to put pressure on muscle tissue and manipulate joints in an attempt to decrease back pain caused by muscle spasm, muscle tension and joint dysfunction. One of Global Pain & Spine Clinic’s most unique qualities is our incomparable manual therapy treatment. Our practitioners are able to provide our patients with hands-on, personalized therapy techniques which have proven to be extremely effective in the relief of pain, while also improving flexibility and range of motion in the spine and joints.

Pain Management: Our physical medicine specialists provide minimally invasive pain management and anti-inflammatory injections in all the areas of the spine (cervical, thoracic, and lumbar) and joints (shoulder, hip, knee, wrist, etc.). These injections ensure timely and effective healing processes and allow patients to engage in physical therapy activities without any pain. Alternatively to steroid injections, we offer vitamin and homeopathic injections, which are a natural solution for pain and inflammation.

Chiropractic: Chiropractic means more than just spinal adjustments. Dr. Peter Slavin developed nu-merous Evidence Based Medical (EBM) protocols that address a broad range of spinal disorders. Through experience and extensive studies of chiropractic and manual techniques developed by leading practitioners in the United States and Europe, he created a unique, safe and effective spinal adjustment method, the T.P.C.L Technique, which we employ at our facility.

Acupuncture: This pain management method has proven to be extremely successful amongst patients with various musculoskeletal disorders. Acupuncture is the ultimate natural pain management for patients who re-quire treatment to penetrate beyond soft tissue. Merging the traditional Oriental practice of acupuncture with modern medical techniques, acupuncture can be a viable means of healing, pain management and prevention.

Combining acupuncture theory with Global’s hands-on manual therapy to release myofascial trigger points and stress holding patterns yields measurable results for problems that are not responsive to other interventions.

Our commitment to our patients includes providing the utmost in leading-edge technologies geared to help our patients improve muscle tone and function and get back to normal everyday life. We do this via a host of proven diagnostic tools and therapies, including:

Diagnostic Testing: Electromyogram (EMG) is used to detect abnormal muscle activity and can be used to diagnose many conditions such as pinched nerves, muscle inflammation, muscular dystrophy, etc.

Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV): is used to detect nerve disorders and can be used in diagnostic testing for carpal tunnel syndrome or neuropathy.

Ultrasound: Ultrasound Sound waves can also be used to penetrate the skin to heal injured joints, mus-cles, ligaments and tendons. Ultrasound therapy relieves pain and reduces swelling and inflammation. The procedure can be used to provide extremely localized treatment for such conditions as: problems with a par-ticular joint, disc conditions, neuropathy, carpal tunnel and dorsal tunnel. It is a relaxing form of treatment that is well tolerated by most patients. Only tumor patients are unable to make use of this form of therapy.

Electrical Stimulation: Physical therapists can use electrical current to cause a contraction in a mus-cle, tendon or ligament to strengthen it and help it heal. The therapist applies electrodes on the surface of the skin and these electrodes act as conduits for the electrical current to pass through the skin to the muscles, tendons and ligaments. The result is a relaxing treatment that not only reduces pain in the injured muscle, but also decreases inflammation and swelling. The treatment can be applied locally to any portion of the body. There are certain patients who cannot receive electrical stimulation therapy: those with tumors, a pacemaker, heart condition and women who are pregnant.

Iontophoresis: Electrical current and sound waves can also be used to deliver medication. Iontophoresis is a non-invasive technique that uses an electrical charge to deliver anti-inflammatory medication through the skin. Phonophoresis uses ultrasound to achieve the same outcome. These methodologies are extremely useful because they allow patients, who cannot swallow medication to get the pain relief they need. They also apply the anti-inflammatory directly to the affected area, which provides much quicker relief than medication that must go through the blood stream before it reaches the targeted area.
