WHY create a GPII ?

What is the problem?

1. Solutions don’t exist for everyone

2. Some can’t afford solutions that are good enough to work with newer technologies

3. Solutions are too complicated

4. Even when a fit does exist – people can’t find it

5. Solutions don’t work across all of the different platforms/devices that people encounter and have to use

Page 3: Global Public Inclusive Infrastructure: Making Progress Cognitive WAI March 2014

What is the GPII ?

An infrastructure that does 3 things

1.Makes it easy to find out what things will help a person to use digital interfaces (and stores the information in the cloud)

2.Invokes those features on any device the person encounters, anywhere, anytime.

3.Makes it easier and less expensive to create, market and support new solutions, internationally

Page 4: Global Public Inclusive Infrastructure: Making Progress Cognitive WAI March 2014

What does this look like?

First, a person finds what works for them…

Page 5: Global Public Inclusive Infrastructure: Making Progress Cognitive WAI March 2014

…and stores in the cloud

Page 6: Global Public Inclusive Infrastructure: Making Progress Cognitive WAI March 2014

Developers create solutions and store them in the cloud

Page 7: Global Public Inclusive Infrastructure: Making Progress Cognitive WAI March 2014

When person encounters a device – it looks up what they need

Page 8: Global Public Inclusive Infrastructure: Making Progress Cognitive WAI March 2014

And an interface they can’t use…

Page 9: Global Public Inclusive Infrastructure: Making Progress Cognitive WAI March 2014

Becomes one they can

Who is building the GPII?

• A consortium of over 50 companies and organizations in over a dozen countries– (the Raising the Floor Consortium)

• Under funding from Canada, Europe and the US– Governments, Foundations, Industry, and Partners
