GLOBAL WARMINGN.MUKUND SAI,

Roll No. 245th Class, Section-D,

BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL.

GLOBAL WARMING• Global warming is the process when the Earth heats up, and the temperature rises. This happens when there is an increase in the production of gases like carbon dioxide, water vapour, nitrous oxide and methane, which are known as greenhouse gases. •These greenhouse gases trap heat and light from the Sun in the earth’s atmosphere and this is turn increases the temperature and causes global warming. •Basic principles of global warming first noted in 1827 by the French scientist Jean Baptiste Fourier.

MAJOR CAUSES OF GLOBAL WARMING

• Industrial revolution• Deforestation• Urbanization• Over utilization of natural resources

Page 4: Global warming

Indicator’s climatic change Drastic increase in earth’s surface atmospheric temperature. Rise in sea levels Melting of glaciers Intensive hurricanes at coastal areas Frequent rain falls/floods in some areas Draughts in some areas due to high temperature Decline in crop productivity leads to food shortage Heat waves becomes common and causes further decline of

endangered species

Page 5: Global warming

Evidences of global warming Arctic sea ice melting at the rate of 9 % per decade. Loss of mammoths on earth, which are the animals seen in

the ice ages. Loss of coral reefs, sea flora and fauna leads to decline

endangered species. Frequent natural calamities like draughts, hurricanes,

tsunamis, earth quakes, storms, typhoons etc., in some parts of the world.

Drastic temperature rise during 21st century over other centuries.

Increase of allergies due to increase content of dust, pollen in the air.

Increase in spread of mosquito borne diseases like malaria, dengue, chikungunya in tropic regions.

Disappearance of islands due to rising sea levels (Indonesia has lost 24 of its islands)

Depletion of ozone layer in stratosphere in arctic region. Disappearance of lakes (Over 125 lakes were lost in arctic

area in last few decades), 13 % decrease glaciers in Himalayas.

Impacts of global warming

Page 7: Global warming

MEASURES WHICH PREVENT GLOBAL WARMING

• Increasing earth’s green sheet by social forestry.• Rationale use of natural resources.• Improving strategies of renewable energy sources.• Decreasing population density on earth.• Declining pollutants content in the environment.

Did you know?Only 3 molecules of ozone/ 10 millions of air molecules

My Conclusion:

Global warming is a global warning for us.
