CUSTomiSing

Every minibus conversion is customised to your needs.

Some conversions are more unusual than others requiring

highly bespoke work. While this could alarm most

convertors this is our strength. We’re totally confident

we have the depth of skills and experience to offer

any degree of vehicle customisation. This could include

trimming in specialist materials, custom made cupboards

and worktops or complex audio-visual equipment.

A lift provides wheelchair passengers with an easy means

inboard or underfloor cassette. We can recommend the

best lift to fit to your vehicle for your purposes. Our

in-house lift service engineer can also provide annual

certification and testing as required by law. Options of

thousands of hours of research have gone into developing the

groundbreaking miniBUS liTE. extensive use of weight saving

materials has resulted in a 16 seater which is below 3.5 tons.

www.minibusl ite . co .uk

miniBUS liTE is available in a choice of 16

and 17 seats and five specifications. Four of

the five specifications can be driven without

D1 entitlement on your licence. The advantage

of this to organisations, such as schools, is it

allows more staff to drive the school minibus

without incurring the cost of training for a D1

licence.

The majority of school minibuses need the

driver to have D1 entitlement because the

vehicles weigh over 3.5 tons.

As an ISO9001 accredited business GM

Coachwork have quality at the heart of

everything we do. The miniBUS liTE is

built with only the highest quality materials to

ensure longevity and durability.

miniBUS liTE is available in a choice of 3

wheelchair accessible versions, each with 17

seats. Access to the vehicle is by full width ramp

or an electric lift which will take the wheelchair

passenger into the rear of the vehicle. Four

point restraints and a 3 point seat belt keep the

wheelchair passenger safe and secure.

miniBUS liTE wheelchair accessible versions

can take up to 4 wheelchair passengers. GM

Coachwork offer a wide range of mobility

adaptations so we can tailor your MInIbuS LIte

exactly to your requirements

The l ightweight minibus that you can drive on an ordinary car l icence*

Did you pass your test before 1 January 1997?

Drivers who passed their car test (category B) before 1

January 1997 were automatically given additional entitlement

to drive a minibus with 9 to 16 seats (17 seats to include the

driver, category D1) NOT used for hire or financial reward.

Did you pass your test after 1 January 1997?

If you passed your test on, or after, 1 January 1997 you

were not granted D1 (not for hire or reward) entitlement.

The category B entitlement you would have allows you to

drive vehicles with no more than 8 passenger seats (9 seats

including driver).

However, you may still drive a 9 to 16 seat minibus (17 seats

including driver) under a Section 19 permit provided the

following conditions are met:

a) you have held a category B licence for at least 2 years and

are over 21 years old.

b) you receive no payment or consideration for driving the

vehicle other than out-of-pocket expenses.

c) the minibus has a gross weight not exceeding 3.5 tons (4.25

tons including any specialised equipment for carriage of

disabled passengers).

If you have passed your test on or after 1 January 1997 and

you wish to drive a minibus with a gross weight in excess

of 3.5 tons you will have to take and pass a D1 driving test

which can be costly and inconvenient.

PLEASE NOTE: Minibus Lite specifications 1, 3 ,4 and 5 can

be driven on a standard B car licence with a section 19 permit.

Drivers must be over 21 years of age and have held a full driving

licence for at least 2 years.

Every minibus will be issued with an IVA (Individual Vehicle Approval) certificate

issued by VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency).

IVA is a UK National approval scheme for vehicles and trailers manufactured in very

small numbers or as individual vehicles. Successful completion of the IVA means the

vehicle meets the technical requirements laid out in European legislation, and that it

has been designed and constructed to modern safety and environmental standards.

An IVA involves a physical inspection of each individual vehicle and approval at a

Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) test station.
