The Georgia Micro Enterprise Network Agribusiness & Entrepreneurship Conference is the annual opportunity to hear directly from the standpoint of regulators about the state of the microbusiness industry in Georgia and about CRA and small business needs. Presenters from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) will also be onsite to provide updates of their Money Smart for Small Business Training Curriculum.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Mrs. Shirley Sherrod Mrs. Sherrod and her husband, Charles Sherrod helped to form several land trusts in Southwest Georgia, in particular, New Communities Inc., a collective farm co-founded by Mrs. Sherrod in 1969. Located in Lee County, Georgia, the 6,000-acre project was the largest tract of black-owned land in the United States. It was a laboratory and model for Community Land Trusts designed to provide an equitable and sustainable model of affordable housing and community development while providing African American farmers the opportunity to farm land securely and affordably. Mrs. Sherrod served as theUnited States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Georgia State Director of Rural Development.
