My dear brothers and sisters in Rotary,

When we talk about building membership, we all recognize that welcoming

a new member into a Rotary club is only the beginning of our task. To turn

a new club member into a committed Rotarian, much more is necessary

and the first step is helping that new member to get involved. Every Rotarian

in every club should know that he or she is not only needed but relied upon.

Every Rotarian should have a job within the club a role to play. After all,

why are we in Rotary? We are here to make a difference. Yes, we enjoy

our Rotary service, but that is not enough if we are to make Rotary a priority

week after week, year after year.

The knowledge that we are having an impact, that we are changing lives

that is what keeps us going, no matter what other demands may compete

for our time. And this is why each one of us, however long we have been

in Rotary, must always be striving to grow as Rotarians to find new ways

to help others, and to bring about all the positive change we possibly can.

For this, more than anything is what makes our Rotary service worthwhile.

Whether we are new members or old ones, each of us can find ways to

become more involved in Rotary service at the club level, the district level,

and beyond. Rotarian Action Groups are a wonderful opportunity to put

specific expertise or interests to work, in a way that brings Rotarians from

every part of the Rotary world together for a common goal. Whether your

passion is water and sanitation issues, or microcredit, or blindness prevention

whether you want to volunteer your dental skills or help organize blood

drives chances are there is a Rotarian Action Group for you. And if not, why

not organize one yourself? You can learn more about Rotarian Action Groups

at www.rotary.org/actiongroups.

Rotary is and always has been an organization based on its clubs. The

purpose of Rotary International is not to direct its clubs, but to connect,

inform, and support them. Where and how each club, and each Rotarian,

chooses to serve, is ultimately the decision of each one alone. So follow

your own ambition and your own vision. Open your eyes to the challenges

in our world, and use the strength you have through Rotary to find ways to

overcome them. Every one of us has so much potential, and can achieve

so much, when we Reach Within to Embrace Humanity.

Reach Within to Embrace Humanity

Dear Change Makers,

Rotary Greetings!

Finally, we have ushered into the month of June, which is the last month

of Rotary’s calendar year. Rotary’s Changemakers Year 2011-2012 has

finally reached its end. I am grateful to you for your wholehearted support

which made this year a memorable one. It became possible all because of

your tireless efforts in an ardent manner. I have no hesitation to say that

all the Changemaker Leaders of 2011-12 have reached the unreachable

by doing self less service and complet ing al l the targets.

Indeed, we have achieved success only due to our hard and sincere work

full of devotion. Rotary has grown all over the world, binding the people to

serve Rotary and to achieve peace through service. It is really a great

pleasure that our RI President Kalyan Banerjee paved our way to achieve

tremendous success. His timely guidance, support, cooperation and

benevolence always gave us an impetus to do the work.

I am really indebted to RI President Kalyan Banerjee for his last month’s

visit to District 3271, which invigorated the zeal and spirit of Rotarians to

render Service above Self. His words spoken on the occasion of Inter City

Meeting here in Karachi are a compliment to us “If we see District Governors

of United States of America or Australia and if they visit our country and

see our Governor(s) and their working then their Rotary would have been

improved”. His visit to District 3271 made the Change Makers Year as most

memorable and enchanting.

His theme Reach Within to Embrace Humanity always inspired all the

Rotarians. The theme brings us very close to the aim and purpose of Rotary.

Rotary always helps the weaker section of the society and those who need

our help and support and which is possible only when we feel in the bottom

of our heart and then only one can embrace humanity.

Fellow Rotarians, RI President has given us guidelines. Now it is our

obligation to follow and achieve our goals for the cause of Rotary.

I am thankful to Almighty Allah Who has given me the energy to serve the humanity from this platform of Rotary. I came into this 2011-12Rotary year determined to make a difference, so that when I leave my office Rotary would be stronger at the end of the year than it was at thebeginning. And I believe that by the Grace of Almighty those goals have been met.

Rotary year 2011-12 was a year of reaching within to embrace all humanity- a year of focusing on the family, I had a wonderful year of love and fellowship

It was a year of focusing on continuity within Rotary, on change in our world. This is what I saw in many cities I visited during the whole year, whereI found Rotarians were supporting people and to help them become strong and self-supporting citizens. Again and again, I saw this: the hands ofRotarians stretched out to those who needed help, the hands of Rotarians that would never pull away from those in need.

We all are very lucky that RI President visited District 3271 last month which rarely happens that any sitting President visits the District. He highlyappreciated District 3271 for the service projects carried out so far, which is on record and a great inspiration for all of us.

Briefly highlights of goals & achievements of Change Makers Year 2011-12.

A Glance through theChange Makers Year 2011-12Last year, I stood before hundreds of Rotarians gathered at Hotel Carlton at the Installationceremony where I told them about my vision for the 2011-12 Rotary Year. I requested to ReachWithin to Embrace Humanity -to look inside themselves, to find the strength and the loveand selfless desire to help others. I asked them to find their own motivation, their own spirit, and act with them -to look around them, at the world that they inhabit, and be the changethey wanted to see in their world.

I would like to thank all my team members, my presidents, my Assistant Governors, RRFC Faiz Kidwai, PDG Aziz Memon, DG Jalaluddin Shaikh,Deputy Governor Tahzeeb Kazmi, Aide to Governor PP Arshad Qureshi, Rtn Irfan Qureshi, District Chairs of various Committees for their wonderfulsupport to me. Last but not the least, I am also thankful to my family, wife Nasim and my daughters for their whole-hearted support. I wish all thebest for a successful year 2012-13 to my DG Shaikh Jalaluddin.
