THE MAGAZINE IS BROKEN

In 2005, Go On Girl! Book Club published the first edition of the GOG Magajournal. What was once a journal highlighting our annual authors award weekend has been transformed into a sleek literary magazine. The Go On Girl! Book Club Magajournal provides the back story on anyone producing, promoting and supporting black literature.

The Go On Girl! Book Club Magajournal features intriguing articles that take the reader inside the world of black literature. They’ll find personal author interviews, news on upcoming titles, book excerpts and profiles on publishing companies and personnel that recognize that people of color both read and buy books. We highlight booksellers who do a great job of counting the African-American reader. We also feature updates on literary events in the U.S. and abroad. The content in the Go On Girl! Book Club Magajournal is informative and entertaining making each issue a collector’s item.

THE EDITIORIAL

Front of the Book—PULSE SECTION

Covers the location in which the author awards weekend is being held, spotlighting local writers, booksellers and artists as well as giving a history of the city.

Editorial Well—AUTHOR CONNECTION SECTION

Includes feature articles on the winning authors and scholarship winners, information on authors and books on our reading list, a feature on publishing company and trade industry personnel, upcoming literary events and more.

Back of the Book—GO ON GIRL! IN FOCUS

An in-depth look at the members of Go On Girl! Book Club. There will be profiles, tips on how to host a book club meeting, recipes and a look ahead to next year’s award weekend destination. GOG members do a variety of things for their communities and this is where we highlight the difference that they make on the literary landscape.

PAST COVER ISSUESThe initial and primary distribution of the Go On Girl! Book Club Magajournal is to all members of Go On Girl! Book Club and to the attendees of the Annual Author Awards Weekend. The awards event travels to a different locale each year and is attended by members of Go On Girl! Book Club from across the country, authors, guest and local community guests.

The Go On Girl! Book Club Magajournal is also distributed at book fairs, GOG membership drives, street fairs, church gatherings, and more. We are always looking for new ways to increase the distribution of the publication to spread the news about black literature and Go On Girl! Book Club.

They stared at each other under the ancient sky with

the soft rain and the full wet earth. More than anything

Ephram wanted to talk to her and tell her things he’d

kept locked in the storehouse of his soul. He wanted to

talk to her about the way Rupert Shankle’s melons split

on the vine and how honeysuckle blossoms tasted like

sunlight. He wanted to tell her that he had seen a part

of the night sky resting in her eyes and that he knew

it because it lived in him as well. He wanted to tell her

about the knot corded about his heart and how he

needed her help to loose the binding.
