Most shopping websites require you to have an email address and a credit card

Keep your Personal Information safe – Review ID Theft precautions – see handout– Make sure the website you are ordering from has taken steps to

insure your information is safe

i.e. Https:// OR Lock symbol– Knowing the website or company

you are ordering from lessens

your chance of being ripped off

Things to remember before you begin

Page 5: Go Shopping With Your Mouse

Important things to think about

Always check the return policy Check the cutoff date for Christmas delivery (or any

other time of the year) Remember that even online special services sometimes

take longer i.e. engraving, monogramming, or personalizing

Many online retailers allow you to ship directly to the recipient. This can be a great time and postage saver, but the company will most likely charge extra for wrapping and/or a card. Or they may not provide that service at all.

Browse the internet to brainstorm for gifts:– Google products - http://www.google.com/products– Yahoo shopping - http://shopping.yahoo.com/ – www.Gifts.com & www.RedEnvelope.com are great for browsing for gifts

when you don’t have a particular gift in mind Stores with almost everything:

– www.Amazon.com, www.Costco.com, www.Walmart.com, www.Target.com, www.SamsClub.com, Ebay (my thoughts)

Other stores:– www.Ikea.com, Fry’s, LL Bean, Lands End,

Ordering flowers:– www.Walmart.com, www.1800Flowers.com, www.FTD.com

Some shopping websites from Parade Magazine last Sunday: www.overstock.com, www.XperienceDays.com, www.OneShare.com,
