Introduction

An erstwhile Portuguese town, Goa boasts a mix of Indian and Portuguese culture, and attractions that draw nearly 2.5 million tourists every year. Primarily famous for its sandy beaches and water sports, Goa is an ultimate destination to spend fun-filled time amid ambiance that is loved by vacationers from all walks of life.

What to visit?Anjuna Beach: It used to be the preferred destination of hippies in ‘60s and ‘70s as Calangute and other desired destinations got too crowded for them. The beach is close to Chapora Fort, and is home to Albuquerque Mansion that is adjacent to octagonal towers. Visit this beach if you want to have a feel of the bygone hippy years and looking to marvel at some fabulous structures built in bygone era.

Baga Beach: A known tourist attraction, Baga Beach witnesses a huge influx of tourists due to its inviting ambiance, marvellous views and events held every now & then. The beach puts forth the opportunities to savour parasailing, dolphin cruises and banana rides. One can also just relax sitting close to the shore, walking by the coastline or bidding the evening adieu at any of the spruced up restaurants located here.

Calangute Beach: It is the largest beach in North Goa and is extremely popular for the parties held here during Christmas and New Year. The beach is also known for satiating the thirst of adventure enthusiasts by offering the options of parasailing and water skiing.

Born Jesus Basilica: With baroque architecture, this church was built in 1605 using wood, stone, granite and gold. It houses the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier, who was among the patron saints of Goa

Se Cathedral: This church was built in 1619 as a memoir of the victory of Portuguese over the Muslim rulers in the area. Counted among the largest churches in Asia, it took around 80 years to built. Another fact to know about this church is the sound of Golden Bell installed in it can be heard in the entire state.

What to do?Relax at the beaches: Take a stroll, sit and relish sunset, build sand castles or swim with the waves. Do anything that pleases you at any beach you like. Goa is proud of its beaches and once you land at any of them, you will know that the beaches are worth being proud of.

Experience Nightlife: Go to discos and let your spirit feel free amid excellent music, food and ambiance. Or, you can dine at any of the famous restaurants serving food from North to South India and East to West India. Some famous clubs and restaurants in Goa are Café Mambo, Liquid Sky, Tito’s and Club Cabana.

Shopping: From wines to books and cashew nuts to jewellery, Goa offers all that you need to buy. How to reach?By Air: Goa has an international airport by the name Dabolim Airport. It is well-connected to major cities like Mumbai, Chennai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Cochin and Bangalore through regular flights.

By Train: The two prime stations are Madgaon and Thivim, which are linked to stations in various parts of the country.

By Road: Both public and private buses run in Goa, offering intra-city and inter-city conveyance. Buses of KSRTC, MSRTC and KTC start and stop at Panaji, Madgaon and Vasco Da Gama. There are also private bus operators that include Neeta Tour and Travels, Paulo Travels and Naik Tours and Travels.
