A Glittering time for Goa Tourism during July-August 2016
Goa Tourism bagged unique awards in July-August 2016 giving the State name and fame world over. Goa Tourism bagged the Film Tourism Destination of the Year award at the IITM Chennai. This award recognizes Goa as a popular film shooting destination.
Goa Tourism’s Digital Marketing Campaign bagged Gold at the Direct Marketing Association CreatEffect 2016 giving recognition to Goa Tourism’s media effectiveness in the Travel and Hospitality category. This is a very prestigious and important honour for a tourism board in India.
Goa Tourism bagged the prestigious India Travel Award for the Best Beach Destination adding laurels to the existing list of awards that Goa has bagged for its clean and beautiful sandy shores.
Goa Tourism also bagged another important award as the Most Innovative Product at the TTF Hyderabad 2016. This
award gives a big boost to Goa Tourism’s achievements in giving tourists innovative products while vacationing in Goa. The new products include the new tourism adventure activities, new e-commerce portal, events, festivals etc.
And last but not the least, Goa Tourism bagged the coveted Pitch Top 5 Brands award in the category of Globetrotters. This award added a big feather to its cap in view of the aggressive marketing and promotion of tourism to the globe which has increased the number of footfalls to the State over the years. This award acknowledges the impactful, efficient and commendable marketing practices being upheld by brands in various categories.
In addition, Goa Tourism also bagged the Best Decorated Stall award at the IITM, Bangalore.

Goa Tourism and Goa Tourism Development Corporation along with other State government departments of Art and Culture, Information and Publicity and Handicrafts Corporation put up an impressive show at Bharat Parv, a six day Patriotic Festival organized by the Government of India from August 12-18, in the national capital as part of the Independence Day celebrations 2016.
The Defence Minister, Mr. Manohar Parrikar, inaugurated the fest at the Rajpath Lawns, India Gate, New Delhi.
Goa’s pavilion at Bharat Parv was a great attraction and around 50 participants showcased Goa’s rich art and cultural heritage. Goa’s tourism initiatives, products and facets were prominently displayed and received an overwhelming response. Folk dances, Goan music and cultural heritage were presented during the six day event and enthralled the audience.

Goa Tourism organized a ‘Freedom Ride’, an exclusive bike
rally on 15 August 2016.
The rally was flagged off by Minister for Tourism, Mr. Dilip
Parulekar and saw an encouraging response from
bikers who were given an experience of Goa’s hidden
treasures. More than 50 bikers participated in this rally which made its way through villages,
historical sites, religious sites and a lot more.

Festival Time!In addition to promoting the well known festival unique to the Island
of Divar – Bonderam, Goa Tourism also took a step forward to promote lesser known festivals like Touxeachem fest, Pattoleachem
fest and Chikolkala which have the potential of attracting tourists from far and wide. All these three festivals are also very unique to
Goa and are celebrated by locals cutting across all communities. Tourists both domestic and international visited Goa to witness these
festivities and also partook in the same.
