C. Ganoy, for assisting her financially and for giving her the ideas, and tips from their
own experiences in goat raising.
Secondly, are her friends and her grandmother who shared their ideas and some
information about the said proposal, because of them, the proponent have gained
enough knowledge and perseverance to accomplish this project proposal.
The proponent also wants to acknowledge her dear T.L.E. teacher, Mrs. Nancy
Elena M. Oreiro for being a good mentor and for the things the proponent had also
learned in their lessons during Goat Raising.

JUSTIFICATION
Goats are very popular among Filipinos because they require low initial capital
investment, fit the small hold farm conditions, and multiply fast. Culturally, goats are
integral to every special occasion such as birthdays, baptisms, weddings, and fiestas.
Hence, they command a higher price compared with other meats in the market.¹
One good thing about goat raising is that improved technologies are now
available. These include proper housing, use of improved forage crops, pasture
management, control of parasites and diseases, nutrition and others aspects of the
business.²
On the other hand, Goat meat cuts have fat content 50%-65% lower than
similarly prepared beef, but have a similar protein content, have between 42%-59% less
fat than lamb. This pattern was repeated for the cooked sample (James et al., 1990). In
addition, the percentage of saturated fat in goat meat is 40% less than chicken without
skin, being far below beef, pork and lamb by 850, 1100 and 900%, respectively
(U.S.D.A, 1981,1989).³
As goat production requires low initial investment and small risks compared to
other livestock, it is therefore an attractive undertaking among resource-poor families. In
augment the country’s programs on livelihood. Goats provide livelihood to about 15
million Filipinos across the country, according to PCARRD.⁴

ROI=41%
This means than for every one peso (Php 1.00) invested by the organization,it
will earn forty-onecentavos. It therefore implies that the proposed project is satisfactory
and profitable because it is greater than 10 percent.

This means that for every one peso (Php 1.00) income, it will incur an expenditure of
seventy-one centavos.

Conclusion
Raising goats as a business is widely practiced now by commonly small farmers.
Commercial-scale goat farming is also steadily increasing as the demand for the
products also increases. The proponent believes that with better business handling,
efficiency, and improved economic situation, meat product consumption in the
Philippines will continuously increase.
11
Recommendation
The proponent strongly recommends increasing the production of goat for meat
purposes in the near future to cope up with the increasing demand of goat’s meat and to
realize higher profit, thus, help uplift the growth of Philippine economy.
