What is God?God is infinite, eternal and unchangeable in his power.

God is Almighty

In contrast to all other so-called gods our God is omnipotent— he has all power.

He is ‘El-shadday’ and ‘pantokrator’ – God Almighty!

‘The eyes of your understanding being enlightened that you may know… the incomparably great power [of God] for us… which he exerted when he raised

Christ from the dead…’

Archimedes is said to have remarked of the lever: Give me a place to stand on, and I will move the Earth.

God does not need any instruments! Simply an act of his will and the revelation of it in his voice is sufficient to create the universe.

Scientists tell us that Energy in the universe is neither created nor destroyed

Albert Einstein developed the famous formula — E=mc2

This means that there is a gigantic amount of energy in the universe!

Page 5: God is infinite, eternal and unchangeable in his power

All the energy in the universe is but a small display of God’s infinite power.‘Him who is able to do immeasurably

more than all we ask or imagine…’

Energy from matter

On 26th April 1986 at 1.23 am Leonid Toptunov began an experiment which was to examine what would happen if the Chernobyl nuclear power plant lost its external power supply.

Leonid had been the senior engineer for 3 months.

A nuclear explosion

The control rods for shutting down the nuclear reactor became jammed … warning alarms began to sound … he carried on with the experiment.

A massive nuclear explosion took place; the concrete of the reactor became molten at 1200oC.

Power in matter

It would take a pea sized piece of Uranium to produce a Hiroshima sized explosion!

God made all the matter in the universe!

Lessons from God’s power

God’s great power is a reason for genuine worship.

Don’t be on the wrong side of God’s power! Who can fight with God and win?

If God is our friend what does it matter who or what power is against us? Ultimately, who can stand against us if God himself is for us?

The greatest demonstration of God’s power

The greatest demonstration of God’s power is in the resurrection of Jesus.

The same power is at work in each Christian to give them life and power to fight against sin.
