GODSBANEN IS THE MULTIDISCIPLINARY FOCAL POINT IN AARHUS. IT HOUSES A VARIETY OF CULTURAL PLAYERS AND FACILITATORS.

THEY ENRICH AND CHALLENGE EACH OTHER, AND THE PURPOSE IS TO CREATE A BLOOMING AND PRODUCTIVE CULTURAL ENVIRONMENT THAT OFFERS INSPIRATION AND EXPERIENCES LOCALLY, NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY.

GODSBANENS STAGES, WORK-SHOPS, FACILITIES, CONFERENCE ROOMS, RESTAURANT ETC. ARE OPEN TO EVERYONE.

Godsbanen was built i 1923 and was a focal point for the freight trains in Jutland until 2000. Godsbanen was remodeled 2010-2012 into a new focal point for the city – this time as the new cultural production center.

The renovation of the main building and the wings has happened after designs by E+N Arkitektur A/S, and the new addition by 3XN.Godsbanen is the first brick in the new creative area in Aarhus, that stretches from Skovgaardsgade out to Ringgadebroen.

The next phase has begun, and a new 17.000 m2

School of Architecture will be neighbour to Godsbanen in 2017.

Godsbanen serves as a platform for encounters between the arts, business and education, and is open to everyone, every day.

At Godsbanen you can experience exhibitions and events in Den Rå Hal, Mellemrummet, and in the Foy-er. You can also experience music, literature and per-forming arts at the stages at Godsbanen. Furthermore you can use the open workshops at Godsbanen. This gives you the possibility of working with wood, metal, textile, ceramic, laser, graphic, print, photo and film. As an artist you can rent project rooms, and the arts centers can advice you. Besides that you can book conference rooms, rent an office space at the project floor, and eat at Spiselauget.
