Access a global satellite network that is future ready
Since its introduction in 2014, the Gogo 2Ku technology has revolutionized global inflight connectivity. A key component of the Gogo FLEX Inflight System, this global satellite-based access technology gives airlines unlimited potential in creating unique inflight experiences that keep passengers coming back.
Gogo 2Ku features a unique dual-phased-array antenna and proprietary modem for unsurpassed performance. Its open architecture design leverages today’s Ku-band satellites and offers future-ready performance with high-throughput satellites (HTS). This allows Gogo 2Ku to deliver on the coverage and capacity needs for commercial airlines with global flight routes today—and tomorrow.

The Gogo Inflight Internet Portfolio delivers best-in-class performance across powerful, integrated inflight services, systems, networks, and support.
The Gogo FLEX 2Ku Inflight System is powered by the Gogo Inflight Network, a high capacity, scalable network that’s dedicated to aviation. It uses proprietary access technology to leverage the Ku satellite network for global flights.
Onboard, the Gogo FLEX 2Ku Inflight System combines innovative Access
Technology with an In-Cabin Network—all driven by Gogo FLEX System Software.
The Gogo FLEX 2Ku Inflight System incorporates two powerful software products designed for total control of the inflight experience: Gogo FLEX OS and Gogo FLEX Developer.
A system-based approach

Gogo FLEX OS
This onboard operating system manages all the inflight system hardware, as well as the network. FLEX OS is a scalable software platform that offers high reliability, robust performance and enterprise security. Through Gogo FLEX OS software updates, you can improve internet performance while seamlessly—and remotely—enhancing onboard server and modem capabilities.
Gogo FLEX Developer
The open architecture of the Gogo inflight internet allows airlines to move beyond traditional vertically integrated systems. Now, you are in control.
Gogo FLEX Developer lets you bring API and SDK development in-house, or turn to third-party providers for total flexibility in designing the passenger experience.

MODMANHosts the next-generation modem which modulates and demodulates L-band signals
KANDUProvides power to the satellite antenna and uses aircraft navigational data to control its movement
KRFUConverts L-band to Ku-band (or Ka) frequencies from the modem to prepare for transmission to the satellite; governs this process in reverse as well

Configurations for any aircraft
The Gogo FLEX 2Ku Inflight System is suitable for either large commercial aircraft with global flight routes or narrow-body aircraft in regional fleets. With both retrofit and emerging linefit offerability, it’s ideal for mixed fleets.

The Gogo In-Cabin Network consists of the essential airborne hardware that interfaces with aircraft access technology to power the passenger experience. An onboard server enables a new cabin standard where content is accessed wirelessly via seatback screens over the dedicated in-cabin network.

Reliable, high-speed inflight internet: everywhere, all the time The Gogo FLEX 2Ku Inflight System is a bundled kit of all the onboard hardware and software needed to deliver inflight internet access to passengers across the globe.
The heart of the system is the 2Ku access technology that includes a dual antenna—one for the forward link, which transmits data to the aircraft, and one for the return link, which receives data. This unique design delivers peak speeds of 15 Mbps to each passenger device, covers 98% of all flight hours worldwide, and provides 98% availability, outperforming competing solutions on the market.
Built to deliver significantly more bandwidth to aircraft, our high throughput modem minimizes service disruptions associated with beam switching, allowing faster satellite handoffs and a more consistent passenger experience.
A dual demodulator within the modem simultaneously supports connectivity and IPTV, ensuring your passengers stay entertained. And since the FLEX 2Ku Inflight System is designed with an open architecture, the antenna is compatible with HTS and other next-gen Ku satellites to deliver greater capacity and superior service as new technologies come online.

Consistency drives CSAT
The Gogo FLEX 2Ku Inflight System helps to deliver a seamless, consistent passenger experience—a key driver of higher customer satisfaction scores for airlines worldwide.
The Gogo 2Ku system features two large, phased-array antennas for 4x more surface area compared to traditional gimbaled antennas. The result is greater throughput and a more consistent experience for passengers.
10
Compared to conventional aero antennas, Gogo 2Ku is designed to provide strong connectivity in areas where other antennas suffer. This is particularly important for airlines traveling across certain areas of South America, Asia and Africa.

GEOPLANEA typical south to north airline route will start out in a region with lower skew angle.
As the flight nears the equator, the oval-shaped beam produced by conventional aero antennas interferes with adjacent satellites (shown in red). To avoid this interference, the conventional aero antenna lowers transmit power even further, reducing data rates both to and from the aircraft.
Gogo 2Ku’s unique antenna projects a narrow beam, which avoids adjacent satellite interference and delivers a more consistent internet experience on flights near the equator.
11
Due to oval-shaped wide beams, the performance of conventional aero antennas suffer in high skew angle regions (illustrated in yellow/orange on map).
With conventional aero antennas, long-haul flights that cross the equator operate with poor performance during a significant portion of the flight. For example, a flight leaving Los Angeles headed to Callao, Peru, will suffer from outages of up to 76% of flight time.
“2Ku is the better-prepared, most-leading technology in terms of addressing our concerns over the equator.”

The Gogo Ku satellite networkGOGO FLEX 2Ku
Gogo FLEX 2Ku offers a higher level of flexibility that’s ready for the future. Since the solution can leverage any Ku-band satellite, aircraft employing the technology won’t need to upgrade existing equipment. This means minimal downtime and revenue loss.
Gogo FLEX 2Ku leverages our existing Ku-band network to deliver reliable, redundant coverage around the globe. Unlike other providers who rely on only a handful of satellites, the Gogo network relies on the Ku ecosystem of 180+ satellites, offering build-in redundancy.
As demand for capacity increases, Gogo can utilize the rapidly growing network of Ku-band satellites to ensure supply and keep passengers connected worldwide.
Optimized antenna design for Ku satellites
› Consistent satellite handoffs for minimal interruption in service for passengers and crew
› Regulatory approvals in 200+ countries, including China
› Ability to add capacity
› Future-ready performance with minimal downtime
Dedicated to aviationWhile competitive networks share capacity with residential, defense or maritime customers, Gogo’s Ku network is fully dedicated to aviation—resulting in greater capacity for our airline partners.
15
The benefits of a multi-provider strategyOur partnership with global Ku satellite operators gives Gogo access to HTS satellites, which will deliver increased capacity across most of the world’s flight routes for an improved customer experience.
More importantly, we can add capacity on demand, strengthen our network and maintain redundancy. Benefits include:
› Global coverage
› Low cost
› Ability to leverage continuous innovation
› Capacity on demand
› High utilization
› Redundant network
HTS satellitesHigh throughput satellites provide significantly higher data transfer speed than conventional satellites (around 100 Mbps to the aircraft), primarily by employing spot beams that cover a smaller area. Gogo 2Ku’s ability to harness these beams provides a solid foundation for a long-term, low-risk capital investment.
16
Global coverage, today and tomorrowGogo stands behind our satellite network and its ability to deliver reliable inflight internet. That’s why we’re the only service provider to offer an upfront Service Level Agreement (SLA) defining everything from speed expectations to latency to network reliability.
