 This is a great project that will use up even the smallest of scraps.  Come join us, it’s bound to be a fun project … we just hope you don’t go “dotty.” 

   

 A template  for printing a whole page of dots can be found on the following page.  For best results print this on a firm cardstock.  Cut the circles out smoothly.   Also test your  ink …  if  it  runs,  then  for best results cut away the black  line entirely … otherwise  you may  get  a  black  ring  around  your  dot when  you  apply  the  spray startch. 

 If you are participating in a Great Dot Exchange, please double‐check the size of printed your dots.  (Due to different printers and settings.)   Each template should measure ¾” or 19mm.    Template for cutting the fabric pieces     Another template for the block layout is also included.  I suggest that you glue this template to a piece of heavy cardstock or the a piece of cereal box cardboard.  Cut away the inside of each circle and along the outer edge of the template.  Then use this sturdy template to either mark your background with a pencil or wash‐out pen.  Or set your prepared dots into the empty spaces and pin in place.  Background – I pre‐cut all my backgrounds 7” square.  This allows for a little bit of shrinkage during the appliqué and room to trim each block to 6‐1/2” (unfinished).
