Four zones-four Team 9 winners! December’s quarterly draw was for $500 Walmart gift certificate-the perfect prize for the beginning of a busy holiday season. Congratula-tions to these 4 Team 9 members! The next question-who will be March’s winners?

Kyle Bradley’s, son of Brad Hill (Streamline,

Edmonton), card design was chosen for Hi-Way

9’s annual Christmas card for their customers.

He was presented with an IPOD touch for his

efforts. Thanks Kyle!

Looking back at the year it amazes me how time flies. With collabora- tion of the group and each person’s effort I would like to thank each and every one of you for a successful year.

The company has shown steady growth through an uncertain economy. This just shows that each group is poised for its challenges and has executed their plan with a solid TEAM.

Darrell Kohut (vice president) has been looking at the fleet and we are excited to tell you we are adding more new equipment to the entire system. This is our con-tinuous journey of making things better for YOU-Team 9.

Quality Share Program for 2012 We have had the four quarterly draw prizes:

March -Fuel Cards, June -IPADS, September -Fuel Cards, December –Walmart Certificates Couple this with the payouts for quality share ($597.69 per qualifying Team 9 member-not including December’s total), and Team 9 has certainly proven the program is worth the effort.

Because each Team 9 member has focused in 2012 and made this a great year, an additional prize of a Vegas trip for two (including flight, hotel, transportation and spending cash) was awarded at the annual Christmas celebration. Included in the evening was also the annual Awards recognition (December 1st), presented with over 320 Team 9 members and their guests in attendance. With the holiday season, family is never to be forgotten. Three children’s Christmas parties were hosted (Calgary, Edmonton and Red Deer). Knowing each child (of which there were more than 115, plus their parents) walked away with a gift, a full meal and laughter from the entertainer, makes the effort well worth it. Looking back at the year, one cannot forget the annual Team 9 Golf Tournament in September, which boasted over 120 participants as well.

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your dedication, time and willingness to make this company a great place to be a part of. I am humbled and honored to be working with such an amazing TEAM.

I look forward to an exciting year ahead and the new adventures that 2013 will offer.

Enjoy the Christmas Season with Family and Friends, for that’s what its all about.

IN MEMORY… DARREL MACINTYRE TEAM 9 EDMONTON

On October 7 of this year our team suffered a tremendous loss with the passing of Darrel Macin-tyre. Darrel was the longest serving member of our team in Edmonton, he joined the team on a full time basis in March of 2000. Everybody knew Darrel and the outpouring of support for his family from near and far in the company when he left us was overwhelming and spoke volumes about how this kind and gentle man was thought of. Darrel filled many positions

during his career with Hi-Way 9. He knew our system inside out and backwards and was accomplished at many facets of it. He did highway dispatch, afternoon foreman, night foreman, forklift operator, lead hand, Truckall supervisor, just to touch on a few. Darrel also took over and ran the Edmonton South building when we moved into the old Alta Transportation building from our original site on Wagner Rd. It was pretty crude compared with the facility we now work in but Darrel was always there with a smile and getting the freight moving was his passion. He was originally a computer guy but loved the freight business and left an office job to do what he really wanted to do – move that freight. It was a common sight to see other employees around Darrel to just talk or looking for a little advice or guidance – he always made time for people and he truly did not have a mean bone in his body. Everyone knew you could always approach him about anything and he would take the time to do whatever you needed- he was the “give you the shirt off his back” kind of guy. Darrel was a talented musician – a “rock star” in his kids eyes. You would never have to ask if Darrel was going to be in to work on Halloween – it was a standing day off for him. His family was his pride and joy and you knew every Halloween Darrel would be out with his kids loading up candy and getting in the time he loved to spend with them. Darrel and Cynthia had four children – Nathaniel, Delia, Avery, and Riley. He always had a little smile on when he talked about having two of his children named the same as towns we service. He changed the spelling in Riley but what the heck. This past September Darrel brought his oldest son Nathaniel to the golf tournament in Pine Lake and they had a great day together along with the many friends Darrel has made over the years at Hi-Way 9. Darrel was a big be-liever in attending the various functions the company put on and you could count on seeing him at bowling, golfing, car draws, Christmas and whatever else might be going on. We, his Hi-Way 9 family, are missing him in a way that you can’t ex-press in mere words. Darrel Macintyre was such a big part of our world that it is difficult to accept that he has left us. Farewell my friend, fare well. Reg Trentham Northern Alberta Operations

the kids are sure to want to

return for.

5 YEARS 10 YEARS

15 YEARS 20 YEARS

It is no secret the value of Team 9 to Hi-

Way 9 Group of Companies. And recog-

nizing their years with the Team is but one

way to show appreciation. Without the

Team-their dedication, commitment and

care, Hi-Way 9 would just be one more

transportation company. But due to their

hard work and loyalty, Hi-Way 9 Group of

Companies is successful and legions ahead

of their competitors.

JOYCE SWANSON Celebrate good times! Great food, awards, dancing, farewells, and best of all-an incredible Team 9, started the Christmas season off with a bang. Hi-Way 9’s annual Christmas party and awards celebra-tion on December 1st at the Sheraton in Red Deer was an evening to remember. With over 320 Team 9 mem-bers and their guests, the room was filled with laughter, a few tears, but most of all-the spirit of Team. Videos, presentations, appreciation-the evening could not have included more of what Hi-Way 9 Group of Com-panies believes in. For the Team members that missed this annual event-mark next year’s calendar-the first Saturday in December. It’s an evening worth participating in.
