Introduction

Gold demand has been steady in Q1 & Q2 2014 but lower when compered to huge upsurge witnessed in 2013.

Jewellery is main the driving force accounting for around 50% of the demand. Overall, Central banks are the main buyers for the 14th consecutive quarter.

Mine production grew 4% year-on-year for a second consecutive quarter, contributing to a 10% increase in gold supply.
