Aberdeen Hills Golf Links is a place people escape to; where they discover

new meaning to words that would ordinarily be used to describe every-day activities.

Aberdeen Hills is a place where driving has no connection with automobiles, where iron is never pumped and green does not mean inexperienced.

It is a place where a stroke leaves no negative side effects, where being in the hole is consid-ered up to par and where a club is chosen for its performance.

Aberdeen Hills offers a true

community golf experience, and the only thing missing is you. When you arrive, you’ll find a place with a magnificent view across the city. Take a moment out of your game to see how beautiful Kamloops truly is.

Aberdeen Hills is a place where flowing greens follow the natural contours of the Kamloops mountainside, offering a totally different and challenging experi-ence than what you’d expect.

This is a tranquil place in a panoramic setting designed to take your breath away. While the views and the atmosphere are unforgettable, so too is the golf.

Measuring 3,040 yards from the blue tees, 2,913 from the white tees and 2,631 yards from the red tees, this nine hole, par 36 course caters to golfers of all skill levels.

Undulating greens, rolling terrain and a golf shot over a natural gully are some of the excitements this course provides.

Aberdeen Hills is conveniently located in the city’s southwest shopping district and is just a short detour off the Coquihalla and Trans-Canada highways.

Visitors are always welcome, views are never ending, and your experience is sure to be unforgettable.

Canoe Creek is known for its outstanding conditions and immaculate greens.

The new addition to the region’s golf facilities is also Dave Barr’s first signature course.

Canoe Creek’s unique design brings a bit of the British Isles into the heart of the Shuswap, offering more than 7,000 yards of open fields, grass-faced bunkers,

extremely playable greens and striking water features.

The course offers a new look to the area’s golf scene, and a reward-ing golf experience. The course features creeks, waterfalls, fountains and natural marshes, with fescue de-fining many of the fairways. Canoe Creek offers a traditional look with a modern approach. The unique layout allows golfers to hit the driver off the tee in some situations, while a

more conservative club selection is required in others. Pot bunkers are scattered strategically throughout the golf course and simply avoid-ing them is a good option.

Greens are open, accessible and receptive to approach shots. Subtle undulations add to the challenge of negotiating these spectacular greens. And while the course will indeed challenge even the skilled golfers, it’s also a perfect place for beginners and novices to learn and perfect the game.

Both the Pro Shop and Barr’s Bistro reflect the same attention to detail and dedication to quality that makes Canoe Creek an unparalleled course with unsurpassed amenities.

Visitors can expect to enjoy the hospitality of the fully licensed patios and indoor seating areas,

as well as the convenience of the expanded and easily accessible practice areas. From the superb condition of the course itself to the outstanding hospitality offered by the welcoming professional staff, guests are sure to find Canoe Creek exceeds all expectations.

Staff at Shuswap Lake Estates Golf and Country Club are excited about the start

of the 2011 golf season. The Highlands Driving Range,

which operates in conjunction with SLE, now has new access via a recently constructed tunnel under the new four-lane section of the Trans-Canada Highway.

This access enhances the op-portunity to have a proper warm up prior to starting a nine or 18-hole round. The golf course has wintered very well under the supervision of course superintendent Jennifer Rozek and her grounds staff.

The golf season began about a week behind the average season start date. The extra week of preparation time gave staff an opportunity to fine-tune the look of the renovated and expanded Pro Shop.

With the new highway expansion, golfers exit coming from the east and west via Fairway Hills Drive. Follow the signs to the Clubhouse and Pro Shop to get ready for your enjoyable day on the links.

The course measures 6,467 yards

from the back blue tee markers, 6,095 yards from the whites and 5,474 from the reds. All at a par of 71, a very enjoyable golf game awaits all levels of play.

Shuswap Lake Estates is a full service golf facility complete with driving range and large clubhouse and banquet rooms — great for large groups or tournaments.

If commuting by boat on Shuswap Lake, feel free to dock at Bay Side Marina and Grill, and staff will pick your group up and return you to the marina after your round of golf.

Please contact the Pro Shop prior to the day of play, 250-675-2315, to reserve our boat slip and to make arrangements for your arrival.

The Golf Academy at Shuswap Lake Estates is always in full swing. Choose from a number of programs offered by CPGA head golf professional Brian O’Keefe and fine tune your game to be the best golfer you can be.

The Junior Camps in July are popular for children visiting the area, or just a fun activity for a sum-mer vacation. O’Keefe has 25 years experience as a golf instructor and is highly respected by all his students.

Check out our website at www.shuswapLakeestates.com for more information.

From May to September the club hosts Men’s Night each Tuesday, and every first and third

Thursday of the month is Ladies Night. Both events are open to the public and have become a highlight of weekly activity.

Prizes are given away each week, and bonus prizes are given out on designated special nights.

Both events require a $10 entry fee on top of a special rate for the afternoon’s golf fees. Come out and take part in the fun — you won’t be disappointed.

Shuswap Lake Estates is one of the coziest golf community venues in all of B.C., and it’s always afford-able. Gorgeous golf living at a fair market price — the secret is out.

The course is so enjoyable to play. Check it out, be a part of it.

The Revelstoke Golf Club is truly a mountain lover’s paradise. With the majestic Monashee and Selkirk

mountain ranges as a backdrop, the golf course is a traditional, tree-lined beauty that features many graceful holes that bend through the trees and dash alongside the Columbia River.

This par 72, 6,537-yard championship layout provides an excellent golfing chal-lenge, and with its spectacular setting you’ll want to play and enjoy again and again.

This beautiful riverside golf course — conveniently located just minutes off the Trans-Canada Highway — dates back to the early 1920s and offers a classic clubhouse that dates back even further.

Despite the history, however, the perfectly peaceful atmosphere just never gets old; the Revelstoke Golf Club is, for good reason, always considered one of the top courses in the North Okanagan and the Kootenay Rockies.

The historic clubhouse features a full service golf shop and the Riverside Land-ing Restaurant, lounge and patio — an ideal place for breakfast, lunch or dinner, or to relax following a round of golf. Enjoy the spacious patio with spectacular views of the golf course

and the surrounding mountain vistas. When you’re not enjoying the fabulous course

there is much to do in Revelstoke as well. The community is nestled high in the Monashee

Mountains, adjacent to Mount Revelstoke Nation-al Park and close to Glacier National Park. The year-round playground of Revelstoke has some of the most spectacular scenery in all of B.C.

Located only 40 minutes northeast of Kamloops, Sun Peaks is B.C.’s

second largest all-season mountain resort.

When the winter snow recedes, many warm-weather adventures reveal themselves, including the unique and challenging Sun Peaks Golf Course, which opens June 3.

The 18-hole, par 72 Graham Cooke-designed course is cen-tered along the valley floor among the three surrounding peaks of Tod, Sundance and Morrisey.

The course provides many risk-and-reward opportuni-ties for all skill levels. At 1,200 metres, the 6,400-yard course is B.C.’s highest.

The high elevation means your ball flies a little longer through the mountain air, and the temperature is often a comfortable 10 degrees C cooler than the valley.

The front nine require delicate accuracy due to the narrow fairways and range from the

short, 122-yard 7th hole, to the difficult, uphill 500-yard 6th hole.

The back nine are a terrific complement to the challenges of the front. More open, more forgiving, and for most, more opportunities for lower scoring.

Sun Peaks Resort is ideal for golfers travelling with family or friends with varied interests.

There are many activities to choose from: take a scenic chairlift ride to hike among the wildflowers, mountain bike, canoe, shop, dine, or take in the many festivals held throughout the summer.

Be sure to check out the colourful alpine blossoms that present themselves in mid-July.

Sun Peaks Resort offers a variety of lodging options to fit any budget from hostels to village hotels, luxurious suites, and beautiful vacation homes.

Sun Peaks Resort is a true mountain getaway. For more information, visit www.sunpeaksresort.com.

The Dunes at Kamloops has long been known as a golfer’s paradise, and

with one look at the Graham Cooke designed course there’s no doubt as to why.

The natural sands have been shaped into an extraordinary golf course, and both seasoned players and those new to the sport can ap-preciate the views of lush fairways carving effortlessly through the sand, each leading to meticulously kept greens surrounded by wild fescue and wheat grass.

Now the stunning course, named the 2005 BCPGA Facility of the Year, has an equally outstand-ing clubhouse and restaurant, which is set to open this May.

The clubhouse has been in the works for years, and the end result proves that it was well worth the wait.

The nearly 20,000 square foot space is complete with a contemporary, stylish and inviting family restaurant, a 200-seat ballroom and, what CPGA director of golf Bill Bilton Jr. calls “the nicest patio in Kamloops.”

That patio is 200-feet long and looks out over the 18th green, taking in the entire golf course with the stunning backdrop of the North Thompson region.

Sit out in the sun under an umbrella, and stay late in the glow of the outdoor fireplace on the patio lounge.

The restaurant will remain open year round for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the banquet

room is already available for booking. So far, the reception to the space has been incredible.

“It speaks to the need for a venue of this size, but also the windows

and the sound system have really been attracting clients,” says Bilton.

“We’ve already got bookings through the middle of next year.”
