• Number of able-bodied population is 900 thousand person in the area .

• In the sphere of small business the tenth part of able-bodied population of area is borrowed.

• In territory of the area are more than 320 large and average industrial enterprises which share about 17 % in volume of industrial production of republic

• The leading branches of industry : fuel, chemical and petrochemical, ferrous metallurgy, machine-building and metal-processing, food industry, forestry, wood-processing and cellulose-paper

• In the region is concentrated all republican volume of an oil recovery, manufacture of hire of ferrous metals, phosphatic fertilizers, combines, the polished glass, linoleum, is issued more than 85 % from the general manufacture in republic of steel.

Gomel Region

• Gomel- is an administrative center of Gomel region.

• Gomel – is the second-largest city on the south of republic, the political center of inter-regional communications of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, with the developed industry, a science and culture. The population for January, 1st, 2007 has made according to 491,9 thousand person.
