Principal’s Message
Cooperation - Respect – Responsibility
As this is the last newsletter for this year, I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy and safe holiday period. The staff look forward to working with all families in 2017 to improve the educational outcomes for all students.
Year 6 Farewell
Last Wednesday evening the Year 6 Farewell was held. It was a very successful evening and the students did a wonderful job with their photo stories, speeches and posters. The whole school community wishes them all the best in high school.
Presentation Night
Our Presentation Night begins at 7:00 pm on Wednesday night the 14th December. It is important that all students are dressed in their full school uniform and are at the hall at 6:45pm ready to start at 7 o’clock. I would like to congratulate everyone who has worked hard to improve their learning and to the award winners, special congratulations goes to you all!

Reports
The students’ Semester 2 reports will go home on Wednesday 14th December. I thank the teachers for all their effort in writing the reports. They will give you an indication of your child’s social and academic strengths and areas they need to work on in 2017.
School Shoes
As many families will be purchasing school shoes over the holiday period, it is important that students wear black shoes that will protect and support their feet. Rabens or similar soft canvas shoes don’t provide the support and protection students need for daily fitness and playing in the playground so I ask parents not to purchase them as part of your child’s school uniform.
The Importance of Breakfast
It has come to our attention that many students are not having breakfast before they come to school. The following is an extract from the Life Education website:
We often hear that ‘breakfast is the most important meal of the day!’, yet according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (2011) one in six Australian children skip the morning meal regularly. Skipping breakfast can cause a range of health problems for children, contribute to poor academic performance and can even cause behavioural problems in the classroom. It is really important that we, as parents and teachers, encourage our children to eat a healthy nutritious breakfast every day.
Here are some reasons why:
Breakfast increases a child’s concentration levels and improves their ability to learn
Helps them to maintain a healthy weight and decrease the likelihood of obesity
Strengthens heart, bones, muscles and joints, which will help reduce serious childhood health problems
Brightens their mood by providing them with energy which helps build positive self-image
Helps to develop positive breakfast habits that they will take into adulthood.
School Photos
Unfortunately, despite all our efforts, we have yet to receive all our school photos. The individual and family photos received and a class photo organised by Mrs Liddicoat will be sent out to all students with the reports.
School Magazine
The 2016 School Magazine will be available for purchase on Presentation Night for $20.00.
Swimming
Tomorrow is our final swimming session for the year. Lessons are held from 1:45pm - 2:45pm.
Students need to bring their swimmers, swim shirt, hat, goggles, towel and sunscreen every Tuesday. They are also allowed to bring thongs to wear to the pool. Students will be getting changed at school and then walking to the pool.
Students are to wear their sports uniform on Tuesdays.
