-Don Blackwell, Executive Director, GBN GBN is a multi-media work of the Southaven Church of Christ in Southaven, Mississippi. Our goal is to use modern technology to reach the world with the gospel. Our primary outreaches are through television, satellite, radio, mobile devices and the internet. The pie chart below represents a sampling of our work. Has your local congregation been looking for new ways to reach those in your community? Many communities are unaware that their local public access television station can be utilized by any resident of the community to put gospel material on the air. GBN can help you get on your local TV station with already completed TV episodes that will point viewers to your local congregation. For more information contact GBN on how you can bring this gospel programming to your local television. While local TV will help you get into many living rooms, there are also new avenues such as Instagram that allow congregations to connect with a younger audience who spend a lot of their time on their mobile devices. GBN can also help you establish an Instagram account where you can reach a younger generation with the gospel and point them to your local congregation. New Employee To spearhead GBN’s recent expansion into social media avenues, we have hired a new employee, Aaron Gallagher.. Aaron will be focusing his efforts on public relations and social media. He has extensive experience in sales, marketing, social media, and television. Aaron has also been active in mission work in Africa and Central America since 2011 and enjoys teaching apologetics and Christian evidences type classes. Aaron and his wife Jamie will be relocating to Olive Branch, Mississippi after residing in Raleigh, North Carolina for the last 10 years. WHAT CAN GBN DO FOR YOUR CONGREGATION? GBN is a multi-media work of the Southaven Church of Christ in Southaven, Mississippi. Our goal is to use modern technology to reach the world with the gospel.

Our primary outreaches are through television, satellite, radio, mobile devices and the internet. The pie chart below represents a sampling of our work.

Has your local congregation been looking fornew ways to reach those in your community?

He has extensive experience in sales, marketing, social media,

and television. Aaron has also been active in mission work in Africa and Central America since 2011 and enjoys teaching

apologetics and Christian evidences type classes. Aaron and his wife Jamie will be relocating to Olive Branch,

Mississippi after residing in Raleigh, North Carolina for the last 10 years.

Our theme this year is “The Devil.” These lectures will take place July 22-26, 2018 at the Southaven church building in Southaven Mississippi. There will be over thirty different speakers, which include: Clifton Angel, Don Blackwell, B.J. Clarke, Jim Dearman, John DeBerry, Tony DeBerry, Sean Embree, Cliff Goodwin, John Grubb, Westley Hazel, Robert Jefferies, Russell Kline, Jon McCormack, Jeff Miller, Jon Mitchell, John Moore, Eric Owens, Chris Perry, Denny Petrillo, Wayne Rodgers, Kevin Ruiz, Jake Sutton, Robert Taylor Jr., Tom Wacaster, Don Walker, and Rob Whitacre. There will also be daily ladies’ classes. For the complete schedule, please visit southavencoc.org.

THE DEVIL

Thanks so much for your part in helping us reach our fundraising goal to purchase new equipment! Our goal was $20,000. Thanks to the generosity of so many of you we have met that goal. This money is being used to purchase much-needed equipment for our work at GBN. This includes monitors, cameras, tripods, video storage devices and editing hardware. These tools will be used for filming at Polishing the Pulpit, as well as giving us mobility so that we don’t have to strip the equipment from our studio every time we travel. Reaching this goal ensures that GBN can make critical upgrades without threatening our day to day operations. If you’ve given towards this effort, we are truly grateful for your support. As a reminder, any funds raised above the $20,000 goal will go into the general fund to help us in our daily efforts of spreading the gospel.

WE’VE MADE IT!

A SIMPLE AND TAX-EFFICIENT WAY TO SUPPORT GBN

A good way to support a cause that you deeply believe in is to include a bequest to the organization in your will. However, there is a way you can accomplish the same thing without having to visit a lawyer. If you have a 401(k) or IRA, you can simply name the organization as a beneficiary. You can leave any percentage up to 100% of the account. There are several advantages. First, as I mentioned earlier, it’s simple. You can do it yourself. You just need to obtain a beneficiary form from the company that administers the account and fill it out. Second, the designation is revocable. You can change your mind at any time and either reduce or increase the share. Third, you have full access to the funds during your lifetime. Nothing will go to the organization until after your death. Fourth, it is a tax-efficient way to make a gift to charity. Whenever you pull money out of a 401(k) or IRA, you have to pay income tax on the amount withdrawn. The same thing applies to family members who are named as beneficiaries. When they receive funds from the IRA, they will have to pay income tax on it as well. Since charities are tax-exempt, they do not have to pay income tax on amounts received from 401(k)s and IRAs. In essence, approximately one-third of the amount going to charity is money that your family would not have received anyway.

* If you are looking for a member of the Lord’s church to assist you with your will or with legal estate planning needs, we would recommend that you call brother Parham.
