LIGHT TV’s PROFILELIGHT TV is a private commercial media organization located in the Unity House edifice at Dome in Accra near the Achimota Shopping Mall, opposite St. John’s Grammar SHS. It is a subsidiary of the Unity Group of Companies comprising Vision1- 93.5 FM, Light 94.9 FM Kumasi, Wisdom 106.3 FM, Bechem, Sports Hotel, Kumasi and Unity Oil nation wide.Currently LIGHT TV has coverage in several areas of Ghana including Greater Accra, Eastern, Ashanti, Western, Volta and parts of Central and Brong Ahafo Regions of Ghana.Light TV’s broadcasting format is in both English and Akan.

GOSPEL NEW STAR SEASON(V)GOSPEL NEW STAR , is a God-honouring, Christ-centered reality television gospel singing competition, also carried by radio. It is undoubtedly making monumental waves on the Ghanaian entertainment landscape, and arguably the most watched and enjoyed television programme in Ghana today.Gospel New Star features regularly on the very popular Light Television(LTV) network nationwideAnd on radio vision1- FM in Accra and Light FM Kumasi,. It is currently in its 5th season, the first four having been held annually from`2012 to 2016.Prizes for the singing competition have been spectacular, ranging from a vehicle to a mind-blowing three bedroom apartment for the ultimate winner, unprecedendent in the annals of music-based competitions in Ghana and possibly the rest of Africa.The visionary behind this keenly contested entertainment show is His Honour Dr. Kwame Kyei, CEO of Unity Group of companies comprising unity oil, Light Television, Vision one FM, Sports Hotel and Nation Services.Currently also as the chairman of Asante Kotoko football Sports Club.Working tirelessly to ensure realization of the vision and success of the mission is the creative industry practioner Carlos Sakyi, Executive coordinator of the show and also the General manager for Light Television Ghana.

*SECONDARY AUDIENCE : (MUSIC ENTHUSIASTS),This segment falls out of our primary demographic and may contain people younger than 18 or older than 30..They love music of different genres, and love watching music –oriented shows, while Gospel new star does not pander directly to them, they make up our voting audience.

• GENERAL PUBLIC: In the end, the talent we find must vie for the attention and acceptance of the general public.. We want our talent to be more than one-hit wonders. We want them to be long- standing super stars.

ELIGIBILITY FOR POTENTIAL CONTESTANTS*A contestant must be a Christian *A contestant must fellowship with a local church*A contestant must be found of sound mind.*A contestant must be well mannered and exhibit Christian values.*To participate, you are required to purchase a form, fill in the required details and submit to the appropriate authorities at the unity house building at Achimota-st.Johns in Accra .*Any other relevant regulation will be communicated to contestants as and when deemed necessary.

*NB: There is no age limit, but minors must be accompanied by parents/guardians*Contesting is not limited to any country, it is open to all nation of the world.*The competition is however held within the territory of the republic of Ghana.

MECHANICSGOSPEL NEW STAR, runs in several distinct stagesA call to Audition: At this stage pre-selected contestants are given the opportunity to perform before a private panel of judges who are also stakeholder of the creative, music and performance art industry.Red and green cards are used by the judges to determine weather a contestant is selected or evicted for the next stage, as well known red means stop, green means go in traffic, so are satisfying contestants given green cards to be promoted to the next stage of the program while red is always used for the eviction of contestants.Contestants go through vivid training, preparation and rehearsals before coming to perform live on stage at the presence of both audience and and the panel of judges. Duration(time limit) for the Gospel new star mostly last for about six months. Carlos Sakyi(principal Judge), Fred Kyei-Mensah, Opoku-Mensah and Rev. Mensah Bonsu are the main judges for the program.

GOSPEL NEW STAR FINALSMuch words cannot express the finals season of the GOSPELNEW STAR competition, even though contestants compete against themselves with all their might and strength, the chance of one winning or losing is being determined by both the panel of judges and passionate audience.

Audience choose their preferred contestants to win by voting via SMS. Both the judges and the audience share some percentage responsibilities of deciding the fate of a contestant in winning or losing. Judges share 60% of the vote by evaluating the live performances of contestants while passionate audience share 40% by voting.

(note: this is why is good for a contestant to belong to a church, i.e. The church as a body spends money collectively to vote for their preferred contestants as well as the individual families.). Now based on 60% judges 'marks and 40% consumer voting, first, second, and third places are announced, and celebration begins.

THE PRIZESAs is been said maximum effort certainly earns, great prizes are awarded to Gospel New star contestants who gave out their all for the competition.

At the season4 of the Gospel New star the little girl Rebecca Mensah was selected as the 1st runner due to the result of the judges discretion and also SMS voting by consumers and audience. A brand new Daewoo Matiz was the car awarded to her.

Gospel New star season5 is going to be excellent, more exciting and sensational, contestants are going to receive grander prizes.
