Gossip from the Grill

I have been honored by the members of the ECC many times this year. First by being elected to the Board of Governers. There were nine good members who volunteered to serve; I am sure it was difficult for the committee to pare them down to six well-qualified candi-dates. And, then I am sure it was difficult for the members who voted to select for those six. Then, I was honored again at the first meeting of the new Board of Governors to be
elected as President from among the six well qualified at-large members. Since then, many members have come to me with congratulations, etc. Carolyn and I are truly blessed by friends we have made at ECC during these past five years! It is the members, their friendliness, and their relationships that distinguish ECC from all the other clubs. That is our strength and that is what we must continue to build and emphasize this year in order to attract new members and to maintain and improve ourmembership experiences.
I look forward to seeing you around the club in February!
Bob’s Babblings
Hope the New Year has started off well for everyone. We want to give special thanks to the members who helped bring in the New Year at Eldorado. Kudos go out to our wonderful and talented members who helped make the celebration a success! Louie Bazan and Tom Meeks, we could not have done it without you! Appreciation is
extended to all of the Eldorado team for the great job they did in making the evening memorable!
Because we have so many members that enjoy dancing and celebrating special occasions, we have added music and dancing to our Valentines Dinner. Although dancing is not required, if you would like to hold your sweetheart close and enjoy an elegant plated dinner, make reservations with Brianna (972) 529-6779. Rumor has it that dessert will be decadent.
By now you hopefully have met many of the new ambassadors especially if you attended Martini’s with the Manager. We have completed the initial orientation of the new ambassadors at a Boot Camp meeting, and with the help of Ed (our chef and top DI) the ambassadors are excited to adopt a new member. There is still room in the “TEE UP 2009” program for you to sponsor a new member. You may have noticed at the Martini night an increased emphasis on wearing a name tag. The name tags are important because there is not a single person at Eldorado who knows every other member and the only way we have of introducing new members to current members is by using the name tags. After all one of the purposes of the evening is to renew old acquaintances and make new ones. Ultimately we hope that Eldorado would become like
“Cheers,” that little bar in Boston, “WHERE EVERYBODY KNOWS YOUR NAME.”
We would like to introduce you to some of the new ambassadors and this month it is Hal and Donell Carey. They have two children and two grandchildren. Hal is a retired naval officer and former Governor of the Heisman Trophy. They have been members of Eldorado for 10 months and enjoy golfing and all the social activities. Say hi as you see them around the club.

Eldorado Country Club membership extends its value way past the golf course, tennis courts, fitness and pool amenities. We have created an environment to get away from all the worries around the country and make the club a place of refuge. We strive to create an environment of friendship,
social activities and business networking with activities for the entire family.
Here a few of the great values we want you to take advantage of: 50% off Wednesday night dining is a great way to get out of the house and enjoy great food at half the price. $20.09 Golf Guest Fees! Free Martinis with the Manager every 3rd Thursday! 9 Clubs within a Club! Free Birthday Dining Certificates! Free Aerobics!
I look forward to seeing each member at the club this month enjoying all our activities.

Being my last newsletter article is a little bittersweet. The thought of not having to write anymore newsletters is appealing as it seems that no matter what is going on, the newsletter deadline is fast approaching. However, knowing that it is my last article
also means that my tenure at Eldorado is almost over after eight and a half years and I will miss many of the relationships that I have developed here. For those who don’t know, I will be leaving my position here and taking over Neese Materials, which is a sand and gravel company, at the end of January. By press time, there will be a new superintendent hired and quite possibly already on the job. The list of candidates is very strong and no matter who is chosen, they will do a fine job. I only ask that you be as supportive of him/her as you have been with me.On that note, I want to thank you for being so good to me over the years and I will always appreciate Eldorado Country Club and its members for allowing me to be a part of your family! Hopefully, our paths will continue to cross.
God bless and take care.Paul Hagy, Golf Course Superintendent

Weekly DrillWhat is it?Have you ever wanted someone to practice with? Do you need someone to help take the monotony out of beating practice balls? Do you want to get better, but just can’t find the motivation to practice? “Weekly Drills” is the answer. Every week a golf professional will design a specific practice session using common drills to help you work on a specific area of your game. The golf professional will be there to facilitate the session, and offer minimal instruction if needed. We will have special practice aids to help with the drill session. They may even throw in a competition or two with some rewards for those that participate. “Weekly Drills” will be every Tuesday evening for about 45 minutes and will be $10 per person. Sign up in the golf shop so that we can prepare for the proper number of drillers. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to get better. When is it? We will schedule different drills each week and each month. The schedule will be posted in the golf shop, and on the web page, and be sent out at each revision. Here is the next two months drill schedules. Fitness for Youth and TeensClasses will be held the 2nd Saturday of
each month from 11:00-12:00**Many of us have children that are either involved in sports and would like to use the fitness facility to train during the offseason or just like to use the equipment available for exercising. With the growing concern of childhood obesity in our nation we would like to offer a solution to our fitness area age limit that provides a safe environment for everyone. The following policy will start in January of 2009.
Fitness Age PolicyFor the safety of our children we have decided to limit the fitness area to adults and children over 16 year of age. If you have children between the ages of 10-15 that would like to use the fitness equipment they must attend a Youth & Teen Fitness Class before fitness facility privileges are granted. The class focuses on proper technique, safety, and etiquette in the weight/cardio room as well as in the group exercise room. After taking the class children 10-15 years old may use the fitness facility without immediate parent supervision. Please note that if your child does not take the class you can not have them in either fitness area even if you are supervising them. The cost of the class is $20.00 and you can sign up by calling Cindy Durham, Eldorado Country Club Group Fitness Coordinator, at 214-289-0248.** Individual appointments can be made if this time is inconvenient.
