Rev. Mar-09 1

1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Scope and Organization This document serves as the user manual for the GOST Flow Calculation Program (QER 05Q039), which is intended for use in a FloBoss™ 103. This manual describes how to download and configure this program (referred to as the “GOST Flow program” or “the program” throughout the rest of this manual). You access and configure this program using ROCLINK 800 Configuration Software (version 1.83 or greater) loaded on an IBM®-compatible personal computer (PC) running Windows 2000 (with Service Pack 2), Windows XP, or Windows Vista. The sections in this manual provide information in a sequence appropriate for first-time users. Once you become familiar with the procedures and the software running in a FloBoss 103, the manual becomes a reference tool. This manual has the following major sections:

Section 1 – Introduction Section 2 – Installation Section 3 – Configuration Section 4 – Reference

This manual assumes that you are familiar with the FloBoss unit and its configuration. For more information, refer to the FloBoss 103 and 104 Flow Managers Instruction Manual (Form A6114) or the ROCLINK 800 Configuration Software User Manual (Form A6121). 1.2 Product Overview The GOST Flow Calculation program allows a FloBoss 103 to calculate volumetric and mass flow rates, integrate volumes and masses, and create and store historical values using the GOST 8.563-97 standard or GOST 8.586-05 standard. This program replaces the AGA3 flow calculation. It uses AGA structures where possible and provides two program-specific screens for entering and viewing additional program-specific parameters.

With the program installed, the FloBoss 103 reads flow inputs (differential pressure, temperature, and static pressure) once every second. It also performs a GOST 8.563 or GOST 8.586-05 instantaneous flow calculation each second, followed by flow integration. The GOST flow calculation provides an instantaneous volumetric flow rate (that is adjusted to contract pressure and temperature) and mass flow rate. (Flow calculations and equations are detailed in GOST 8.563.1, 8.563.2, 8.586.1 and 8.586.2.) You configure and view the program using three ROCLINK 800 screens (Device Information, Meter Setup, and History Setup) and two program-specific screens (GOST Flow Data and GOST Flows & Accums). 1.3 Program Requirements You download the GOST Flow Calculation program to—and then run it from—the Flash and RAM memory on the FloBoss 103. The GOST Flow Calculations program is compatible only with firmware version 2.14 (or greater) of the FloBoss 103. Download and configure the program using the ROCLINK 800 Configuration software (version 1.83 or greater).

4 REFERENCE

This section identifies possible GOST Flow Calculation alarms and provides tables of information on the user-defined point types the GOST Flow Calculation program uses.

4.1 GOST Flow Task Alarm List

It is possible to enter data which is unsuitable for the calculations. The program performs checks and may produce one of the following alarms:

Calc Error: occurs when a calculation is unable to produce an answer (for example, due to a divide by zero).

Data Error: occurs when the input data is invalid. The program checks for differential pressure, pressure, density, pipe diameter, orifice diameter, specific heat ratio, and viscosity.

Out of Limits: occurs when the limits of use checks are enabled and data is outside the ranges specified in the standard.

4.2 GOST Flow Task Limits of Use

The calculations are valid for the following conditions. You enable checks by selecting the Limit Checks checkbox on the GOST Flow Calculations screen’s Setup tab. All Tap Types p2/p1 0.75 Corner and Pipe (D-D/2) Taps d 12.5mm Orifice diam 50mm ≤ D ≤ 1000mm Pipe diam 0.2 ≤ B ≤ 0.75 Beta ratio Re > 5000 for 0.2 ≤ B ≤ 0.45 Reynolds number Re > 10000 for B > 0.45 Flange Taps d 12.5mm Orifice diam 50mm ≤ D ≤ 1000mm Pipe diam 0.2 ≤ B ≤ 0.75 Beta ratio Re 1260 B * B * D Reynolds number

4.3 Point Type 22: GOST Flow User Data Point type 22 holds local data the GOST Flow Calculation program uses. The program maintains one logical of this point type, and saves point type 22 to internal configuration memory.
