Preface Government Degree College, Bhikangaon is an under graduate

college. This college caters the needs of students who want to

pursue higher education from both of the tribal tehsils such as

Bhikangaon and Jhirniya. Its main goals are providing value-

based education to the students from rural and tribal back

round. The college has shown its growth capacity in academic

front despite many constraints and limited resources, since the

establishment of the college. The college has the privilege to

achieve IEQA status from NAAC, Bangalore. The college and

its steering committee feel delightful to submit the Self study

Reports to NAAC, Bangalore. The college has taken its best

level of persistent efforts to furnish all the details of SSR . It

has been prepared with utmost care and attention. The SSR is

further forwarded to the NAAC for further processing same.

The SSR is prepared under the realistic perspectives of the

NAAC steering committee. The college has taken much efforts

to collect the details regarding this. The college tried its best to

give answers to all the questions contained by the SSR format.

The college extends its thanks for all the sections of the college

for their co-operation in providing the needed details and data

and other valuable information.

The college administration realizes the whole set of queries

raised in the SSR format provide excellent direction to achieve

academic excellence in future. The college management

committee and the faculty members impart excellent academic

value and dignity. This report highlights the sincere work

done by the college in the service of mankind by imparting

valuable education to students who are from rural and tribal

background. The college is fully committed in promoting

literacy to needy and poor students; hence the college has

taken full efforts in the academic sections and analyzing them

for this report. Therefore, the college is forwarding the SSR for

your analysis and accreditation. Thanking you.


EXECUTIVE SUMMARY –

(A) Profile of the College

Bhikangaon is a town situated in Khargone district of the south-east Madhya Pradesh. It is situated on the No. 27 highway which connects Khandawa at one side and Barodara (Gujrat ) on the other side. Bhikangaon is 50 km. away from Khandwa , 48 km. from Khargone. This place is situated at a distance of 125 from state's commercial capital Indore. Nearest airport is at Indore.

Govt. Degree college Bhikangaon, Dist. Khargone M.P., is situated at 1km. away from the bus stand on Bhikangaon-Sanawad road. Bhikangoan is purely Hindi-speaking belt of the Nimar region of Madhya Pradesh. The local dialect is Nimari. Before establishment of the college there was no facility for higher education in Bhikangaon. Higher education facilities were confined to cities like Indore, Khandwa and Khargone, all of which are at a distance of more than 40 km. away from this place. This college started functioning from 1 August, 1988. Before starting of this college, it was a private college run by a committee. The college was started with arts faculty only. The college was run in a private building at the bus stand. In 2005 new college building came into existence and shifted to the new building.

After the demand of the area the Janbhagidari Samiti started science, commerce and M.S.W. in 2010. Since then the college has been growing gradually that the college has all the potential for further development and it is visible from the GER for the last four years. Since the 2010-11 when government has started online admission process, the college has improved its strength. In the running year we have double strength in the admission process because we have improved infrastructure facilities, discipline, result oriented study and healthy environment so that these points attract more students towards the college. Moreover, female students who first selected

Khargone and Khnadwa colleges for their science

studies now first choose this college, due to the accessibility and academic environment made in the college.In spite of the fact that during the last five years so many private colleges have come up around the nearby areas, the graph of the enrollment figure has consistently shown upward trend. The college is primer institution for higher education in the backward area, and all the other institutions are situated 40 to 50 km far away, the students strength of the college is expected to be constantly on the rise in the years to come. It is a major positive factor in its growth potential.

Criteria I – Curricular Aspects –

Govt. Degree college, Bhikangaon is a government college . It abides by the rules and regulation framed by the department of higher education M.P. It also abides by the syllabi prescribed by the affiliating university. However, every institution has some specific goals and objectives. This college has its own goals and objective which are need of the cultural and educational needs of the local area. Our goals and objectives are mentioned in the ‘ Right to information’

manual 2005. The prospectus of the college brought out at the beginning of every academic year and also states these objectives and goals. The college has its aim to inculcate education to this tribal and backward region with its full capacity . The college is providing these two tehsils (bhikangaon and zirnia), higher education and our aim is that we could provide best and qualitative education to the catchment areas. So we are planning to introduce new and professional course in this college. It is striving towards this goal which is evident in the fact that during the last five years our collage has opened four self -financed courses.

The affiliated university prepares the curriculum for teaching P.G courses. The Central Board of Studies , Bhopal has designed and handed over U.G courses to the universities of the state . The various colleges of the state contribute in the curriculum design by representation of its senior teachers to the various board of studies of affiliating university and also in The Central Board of Studies.

Under the present system, the University/Central Board Study offers U.G. courses with many elective subjects in Arts faculty of which a student has to choose three subjects. Our demand to open new faculty and subjects was not considered by the government.

Then the Janbhagidari Samiti of the college came forward to open new faculty in science and commerce. One professional P.G. course M.S.W. was also introduced by the JBS. By starting these courses the problems of student especially female student were solved and now the students opt for this college rather than the colleges in Khargone and Khandawa for pursue higher education. It is becoming best and stress free for students especially girls.

The curriculum , once received from the University/Government, is divided into monthly teaching plan. Along with the attendance registers, every teacher maintains a daily diary to record his / her daily teaching and other activities. The same is then monitored by the principal, and the backlog, if any, in teaching the curriculum, is completed through extra classes. SSR NAAC -2016 4


Criteria II- Teaching, learning evaluation :-

In the beginning of the session the college starts “College Chalo Abhiyan” in the catchment area of the college in order to attract more and more students to enroll. into the college. The Higher Education department of M.P. Government has started online admission process. In this process a transparent method was adopted in the last few years. The demand ratio fluctuated nominally without giving out clear trends. However, entry in U.G. has almost been consistent with ten percent variations upward. Due to the online admission process admission graph gives a steady increase in the total number of admission in the last five sessions.

The college is trying its level best to provide a very congenial learning atmosphere to the students. We try to aware the newly entered students about classroom awareness sessions and these sessions are conducted in each faculty by teachers. Internet facility is available to the students in computer laboratory only. For teaching syllabi, the college follows the academic calendars issued by the state government. In order to make learning more learners centric, the students are encouraged to participate in classroom workshops / seminars / GDs etc. The university has introduced internal evaluation system (CCE) for all the colleges. The CCE constitutes 15% marks at U.G. level and 10% marks in P.G. In the CCE system various modes of testing the performance of the students, viz., question & answer methods both objective and descriptive, assignment writing, oral tests, teaching by senior students, group discussions etc. are adapted. The CCE is the part of the University evaluation, and is transparent in sense that the students are intimated of their performance in the test and those students wonder performance are given to further chances to improvement. Our IQAC has initiated quality improvement measures through framing its quality policy.

Criteria III – Research, Consultancy and extension Our college is an under Graduate college so it is not

recognized centre for research by the affiliating university. While our college always promotes research schemes / Project for faculty members. Some of our faculty members are either engaged in research work or have completed their research projects. The administration encourages the teachers to take-up projects from various funding agencies like UGC, MAPCOST, DSTECT. The college have five laboratories for science faculty, one for geography and a computer laboratory. For students in-house, projects are a part of the curriculum in final semesters of both U.G. and P.G. courses. The institutional budgetary allocation does not provide for research projects.

One of our faculty members has done minor research project provided by UGC, another faculty is engaged SERV (Science and Engineering Research Board) project botany subject, on topic “The Cyperaceae of Madhya Pradesh, India”. Same fellow has written three research papers in the International Research Journal. During the last four years, all the regular teachers have attended academic seminars / conference and presented their papers. Institution has organized only one conference at state level on Parliament system in the year 2010-11.

The counseling services to the forest department of M.P. without any remuneration.

The college has a NSS unit with 100 volunteers. Through these volunteers, the college promotes students engagement contributing to good citizenship and holistic development of them. The NSS volunteers of the college attended national- level, state -level and all district level camps. The college regularly organizes blood donation camps, campus maintenance and environmental friendly activities.

The college also conducts social activities through its M.S.W. students. The M.S.W. students visit to, remote tribal villages to inquire about various diseases spreading in the area. They also take part in

activities of N.G.Os working in the same area.

Criteria-IV-Infrastructure and Learning Resources

The Govt. Degree college administration is fully aware of the importance of infrastructure facilities in teaching learning process in the modern time. The college is committed for effective and optimum use of its available infrastructure and continues its efforts to reduce the infrastructural deficiencies. We are gradually marching towards to be a better college equipped with advanced teaching system with latest technology, for our developmental plan. The college depends on three agencies such as

2. UGC

3. The Janbhagidari Samiti.

The college has 08 class room, three interactive boards, five laboratories with latest equipments and one library with approx. 8000 books, 15 desktop units, one laptop, a 7.5kv generator, one LCD projector etc.

Further in 12th plan we have sent proposal of Rs for building, equipments, books , sports and other activities.

Criteria V Student Support and progression

Yes, the college updates & publishes its prospectus at the beginning of every academic of session. The college provides information in its prospectus regarding curricular activities, details of teachers, available courses and subjects, students welfare shames, and infrastructure facilities available in the college Personal counseling is provided by the teachers at the time of admission. For its various courses. In arts faculty, help is provided to students in choosing the subjects. The average progression of students from U.G. to P.G. stood at around 52%. The average pass percentage at U.G. level at 63 % and for

PG it stood at 92 % for the last four years. career Guidance cell organize lectures, workshops

and training modules to their students in self employment and entrepreneurship skills. In the last four year four such training programs were organized in the college in which some 120 students have benefited. Students welfare schemes like post-metric scholarship for SC/ST/OBC students, merit scholarship like Gaon ki beti yojana, Vikramaditya, pratibha kiran, and schemes of general nature like Awagaman (transportation), and Awasiya are available..Presently the college has Alumni Association but its registration process is in pipeline. The college encourages students progression to higher level of education and towards employments through regular motivation and counseling by faculty members of the departments and other senior members of the college.

The college has a sports ground about two acre. We are trying our level best to build it better. The college has also facilities for indoor games such as Table Tennis, chess, Badminton etc. The college conducts sports and cultural activities as per the University academic calendar and circulated and published from time to time. Our students have participated in the divisional level & district level sports and cultural activities every in the last four years. The college is sincerely making effort to bring its students magazine in the near future.

Criteria VI Governance, Leadership and manager

The Principal of the college has sole responsibility to implement the policies framed by the government in letter and spirit. The principal delegates various responsibilities of the quality management to these senior faculty members. I t is also monitors and reviews by the principal periodically.

College development committee prepares the development plan under the direction and leadership

of the principal, especially for the opening of new

courses and infrastructural development etc. To run the college smoothly the principal forms

various committees in the beginning of the session. For framing of policies, plans and execution of projects, various committees are constituted by the principal. In order to maintain staff / students-discipline, to use innovative teaching methods, internal evaluation etc. , improvement are brought into the organizational culture by continuous interaction between the principal and the faculty members.

Staff council is the powerful decision making body which can take any decision regarding the policy matter. Whenever the Principal needs ,he calls its meeting. The Principal is authorized to put any issue in the council meeting to make decisions on same vital issues related to the institutional functioning. Principal assigns the responsibilities to senior faculties for other important areas like discipline, NACC, U.G.C., IQAC, Anti-ragging, Purchase committee etc.. Principal also constitutes Separate Planning committee for college development projects and this committee recommends proposal for U.G.C. and other agencies. Janbhagidari committee also takes college developmental activities and decisions on merit basis.

Innovation and best Practices :-

The college has started so many innovative ideas in teaching learning field. Our main aim is to improve far-sight in the students to enhance their knowledge and keep a minute vigil on the happing around them. We have introduced many innovative ideas some of them are Competitive Exam coaching, Art & Craft training, speeches on current topics, G. K. awareness and extempore speech and assembly, Karate Art etc.. The college also adopted some Best Practices to

The college adopted a uniform dress code for the students. Its main characteristic is that this decision is taken by the students themselves.

The college has adopted Best Practices about Environment awareness because we think that endanger of environment is a great problems before the world. We have taken many steps in this regard-like water conservation, water harvesting, Air pollution, tree plantation, waste management, Electricity conservation etc.

implied. Regular Seminars, workshops, discussion, Concept-

clearing meetings, along with power point presentation. The

syllable is divided into 5 units and accomplished by the given

time of deadline, as per the available days of the academic

colander. According to direction by the government, Students-

to Students teaching and instructiveness is implied and

practiced. The College at ground level organizes Continuous

Comprehensive Evaluation in each semester including The

Process of Teaching adopted for evaluation of the students and

all the record of teaching plan and implications are regularly

maintained in teaching plan diary and inspected and remarked

by the Principal of the college.

Since the affiliating University organizes meeting of board of

studies to discuss the transformation required in curriculum

,however no teachers of our college are members of the board.

We send our information regarding the changes required to

the board through the members of the board of studies. The

college library avails several reference books, magazines to

backup the teaching staff members in order to update their

knowledge and to enable them for effective teaching. The

principal regularly conducts meeting to encourage the faculty

members to participate in workshops, seminars and

conferences.

The College has no broad band connectivity. We provide

Internet facility to students through SWAN and NET

CONNECTER for updating their knowledge on the internet

along with OHP and P.P.P. All the staff members are accessed

to these facilities for implying effective teaching .The College

organizes various programs on skills-developments and PQ

development. Extra class time is given to students after their

conducted by the faculty after every class.

The College effectively networks and interacts with the

operationalise the curriculum. The College has a career

development cell known as" SWAMI VIVEKHANAND

CAREER MARGDARSHAN YOJANA" that organizes Job

career fair in our lead College of the district. Many placement

agencies of government and public sectors and recruiting

agencies of industries are invited to deal the job provisions for

students [ Although our college in not a recognized research

centre, but some of our senior teachers are registered guides to

Ph. D students.]

Our institute is a government college, the curriculum

The institution ensures to implement action of the stated

objectives of curriculum by following the teaching methods

planned according to the framework of the academicals

time. Teaching diaries are maintained by the teachers and

duly signed by the principal. CCE tests are conducted and

results are declared to the students. The College analyses the

hindrances encountered in achieving the goals and objectives

work through the students under the supervision of the

flexibility for the subject selection at present. Under the

norms of Under Graduate Courses, students who have

passed 10+2th science at 10+2 level can either go to

Commerce, Arts, BBA or BCA, and those from Arts stream

can only choose Arts subjects .

The University/Central Board Syllabi offers UG courses with

many elective in Arts Faculty of Which a student has to

choose three, under the existing system. However, in Science

and commerce faculty, the subjects are pre-determined. In

B.Sc. there are two groups offered by the University such as

Mathematics group (Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry)

these subjects and programs, The affiliating University alone

provides the curriculum.

The Janbhagidari Samiti sanctions for the self-financing

courses and their required member of posts of teachers and

these posts get appointed through advertisement. The

appointment of teachers stand in a temporary full-time basis.

2.2 Catering to Student Diversity

2.2.1 How does the institution cater to the needs of differently- abled

students and ensure adherence to government policies in this

regard?

The college encourages the students to avail the schemes of

the government to the physically disabled students. The

college has started issuing the pre-metric and post-metric

scholarship by the Government of India from this year. The

physically disabled students are given state Government's

scholarship for computer and management. They are a

scholarship from the Social justice Department. Owing class

and during their arrival, proper care is given to them through

the volunteers for their mobility. The same help is provided

during exam.

conducted to the students who lack co-operation and weaker

The college takes special attention in the issues like gender

equity, environment and drug prohibition etc. The college

celebrates world women's Day on 8th March. Beti-Bachao

Abhiyan is actively practiced and marches are conducted

along the roads of town against pollution and ‘No-vehicle Day

’ is maintained once in a month. The college is planning for

successfully transforming it in to ‘No- vehicle once a weak.

Awareness campaigns are held on the topic of drug

prohibition competition, debate, essay-competition are

regularly held regarding these topics. The College campus

with the help of N.S.S. volunteering students and with the

help of session-court of the town and the college now has

successfully installed rain water harvesting system within the

campus under the water conservation programs. Earlier, it

used to flow out waste.

As for as teaching the syllabi, the college strictly follows the

academic calendar issued by the state Government the annual

schedule for academic, spots, cultural activities, and the

student union election etc. A Unit-wise system is followed by

the university syllabi. The syllabus is divided into monthly

teaching plan at the college levels by the teachers. The Time-

Table is maintained and monitored according to this teaching

plan. Pending or backlogging, if any completed at the end of

every month with extra classes, etc. Every teacher maintains a

diary and that is duly checked and signed by the principal as

there is no H.O.D, in the college.

The college follows the process of CCE (continues

comprehensive Evaluation) as regards of evaluation in every

internal evaluation, it is considered as a part of the University

examinations sense that the marks of CCE constitutes 0f 15%

of the total marks in each subject in UG, and 10% of that in

used in interactive classes. Students teaching methods are

used and students of MHS act as teachers. Interactive methods

are widely adapted so that students are confident over their

subjects. The College has recently received some science

practical equipments to enhance the effective laboratory

practical classes.

scholars are to pursue their research in the library and the

data along with the NGOs.

The college motivates our teachers utilize their expertise for

consultancy services. One of our teachers Dr. M. Sheik has

contributed his consultancy to The Madhya Pradesh Forest

Department in training their officers about plantation and in

various schemes.

The college makes all efforts to encourage the staff for

utilization of all human resources. It motivates the faculty to

The college encourages the staff to utilize their expertise for

other departments of the government. The Department of

revenue usually utilizes the services of faculty members in

members in examination related and evaluation related works

The institution promotes Institutional neighbour-hood

community network and students engagement in it by

organizing activities in the fields of good citizenship, service

orientation and holistic development. These activities not only

inculcate moral values in the students but also ensure their

holistic development. The NSS and Youth Red cross units

along with Red ribbon Club of the college organizes various

community development activities .These include:

The college organizes N.S.S camps for 7 days in adopted

village.

for relief operations during natural disaster

4. A blood donation by the staff and students.

5. Awareness campaigns for health hygiene, sanitation are

The college is committed to inculcate civic responsibility

among students.

The Red -cross conducts various activities throughout the year

to promote role of responsible citizens. The students take

participation in cleaning campaign and polythene free

campaign. The college adapted villages where all students and

candidates in free plantation and take care of it whole the

year. At the time of admission two saplings are collected from

each of the student. The institution promotes awareness

campaigns in the following issues, such as female foeticide,

aids, gender discrimination and crime against women, blood

donation camp, etc, under the computer literacy program, free

computer training is provided, to our students. During the

seven days of village visit, we interact and ask people's

problems and make the administration aware of them. Work

on toilet construction is carried on under the Swatch Bharat

Abhiyan. Water samples of different wells from the villages

are collected through the students and their quality is checked

and counseling is given to them free of cost to improve the

quality of water, after checking by PH meters. The college

promotes the use of non-conventional sources of energy, use of

vermin compost and we also promote the use of bio-fertilizers.

The college serves the need of people through various after

activities.

The College invites suggestions and feedback from students

and parents through complaint box and Jansunvai counters.

The members of Janbhagidari Samiti also contribute their

valuable suggestions for the betterment of the institution. The

college has created a stakeholders communication means like

Alumni association with student representatives and students

union. The IQAC in the planning process considers feedback

collected.

The IQAC considers the stakeholders feed backs in order to

prepare development perspectives.

STUDENTS - The College listens to the values ,opinions and

demands of students..The college has placed Suggestion and

Complain Box for free communication. This enables the

students approach the principal freely without prior

permission during working hours. The junior students

communicate the management through the seniors.

PARENTS - The colleges maintains good contact with the

parents and keeps them updated about the academic

performances of their wards, their attendance records and etc.,

through phone calls. Parents of any student are allowed

anytime during working hours to meet the principal, teachers

and the coordinators regarding suggestion and complaints.

The college organizes regular staff meetings to keep the staff

We have formed a well connected alumni association through

the social media. The members of the association give

suggestions and exchange opinions in regular interactive

area and the society. The college has made many aware of the

The college ensures the involvement of the community in its

reach out activities and contribute to the community

development as the college has taken many initiatives to

imply its extension activities. The college has created a

network that functions in various extension activities. The

members of the group of the college meet people from rural

areas and village and organize meetings with intellectuals and

select some youths who work along with our MSW students

and staff in executing all the extension activities.

The selected youths, along with the M.S.W. student and staff

participate together in the field works.

Awareness campaigns and counseling are done to slum-

dwellers around the college and its neighboring in regarding

social and health, female- foeticide, anti-tobacco, environment

protection, awareness on consumer protection rights, anti-

corruption and awareness for making voters I.D. among

people so that they utilize their democratic rights and

were deepened and water storage systems developed with the

help of Gram Panchayat Sabha.

The college is fully conscious and aware about the importance

of infrastructure in the teaching learning process of modern

time. The college is committed to teaching and learning process

in an environment of freedom and realizes learning the needs

of infrastructure for them. The college enables the needs of

infrastructure for them .The college enables the students

compete with their counterparts in the fields of technological

learning and I.T. The college administration is striving to

accomplish its objectives despite having deficiencies of

facilities. The college has considerably increased its physical

infrastructure during the past few years and trying to increase

the same in coming years. The college wants to achieve the

final goal set by the Department of Higher Education., .e.

value based quality education. The funds are collected from

various financial resources like A. The Government of Madhya

Pradesh, B.U.G.C. and financial resources like donations. The

college utilizes these funds for all the developmental purposes.

which is in the steady parts of progress for the last years

08:00 am to 04:p.m in order to distribute the available spaces to

The Library staff extends full support to the student., It also

helps students in finding out the books in order to conduct

serious study. The list of new books and the lists of all

available books are provided by the librarian. The library

staff provides details and infrastructure about the new books

and arrival .The library staff is always in touch with the staff

members and students to know the scarcity of books.

Free stationeries and books are distributed to SC/ST students

under the scheme of higher education Department of Madhya

Pradesh Government.

The college library takes full care of physically challenged

students by helping them to locate and take the books from

the races. The library staff members help them easily find

The maintenance and up keeping work is under taken with

the help of college maintenance and Infrastructure committee

with the help of public workers Department. The Principal

proposes the needs of infrastructural augmentation to the

funding agencies like the Janbhagidari Samiti.

The college carries the maintenance and repair of the

infrastructure in a systematic way. The funds of Janbhagidari

and electricity works, carpentry, masonry works, plumber

The teachers find out students who are interested in

completion exams by counseling them and guide them by

giving them details of various competitive exams. At present

classes are held for Banking and PSC. The students get

support of Internet and library books.

to them and more details, such as the information about the

benefit of the career is also taught to the students. The students

The students in the college face various issues, such as

family problems, mental-problems and problems in college.

The students can freely share their problems with their

teachers and the teachers solve them and show them ways to

solve them. Female students are counseled by the female staff

members who specially listen to their problems. Students'

family problems that puts mental pressure on them during

studies are solved by the teachers through counseling. The

college makes it sure that the personal & Psycho-social

problems are solved in order to make them study without

stress on their mind.

The college conducts lectures on the various career

opportunities every month in different streams. Details

discussion is done on the exam module and the syllabus and

the pattern and the methods of syllabus.

The students get informed about the job vacancies offered by

the government and other agencies. The advertisements are

displayed on the notice board. The students are informed of

important information regarding the vacancies and their last

dates of filling up.

The college has a grievance redress cell supported by other

members of faculty. This grievance cell attends on the needs

and the Principal also. The concerned cell takes necessary

action regarding the issues. The semester cell acts as a linkage

between the university and students the formalities related to

The editorial board of the college consists of the chief editor

and teachers and publishes them as magazines every year.

Library advisory committee:

There are five members in this committee. This committee

maintains the books, journals, magazines of the library. The

committee creates easy access for the students to the library

The college is very cautious regarding ragging menace. The

college has set up a committee as per the direction of

University Grant commission, to incorporate in their

prospectus. This committee comprises the principal and

teachers, administrative officers and the local police

department.

Career guidance committee:

The career guidance cell of the college, namely

swami Vivekananda which guides students get good

placement by guiding them and organizing lectures regarding

career planning and career options.

The college is governed by The Government of Madhya

Pradesh and aided by the Janbhagidari Samiti. The principal

and the faculty members meet together for designing and for

implication of quality, policy and plans. The principal of the

college provides leadership to the system as he is also the

Executive Academic Officer of the college. The Janbhagidari

committee and the principal of the college are in proper

accordance to discuss various policy making and their

applications and adjudication. The principal ensures all the

Yes, the college promotes a culture of participative

management which is practiced through various levels of

committees in the three organs of the Janbhagidari Samiti

Janbhagidari Samiti . Although all the departments are given

autonomous , yet they are asked to co-ordinate among

themselves for smooth function of the institution.

language development etc , as per the instruction of higher

authorities they are developed, driven, deployed and

The number of students is increasing day by day after

introducing many self- finance courses considering the great

number of students. The college lacks adequate facilities, such

as more physical infrastructure like classrooms, enlarged

computer laboratory buildings and computer laboratory

building. The College , as procures more books , needs

another enlarged library building . Girls hostel and Vigyan

Bhawan . These prospective plan of the college is developed

following the procedure of involving the co-operation of

faculty members of Janbhagidari Samiti . The college wants to

regularize the self -financing courses , such as B.A. , B.Com.

with Computer and B.Sc. with Computer as regular courses.

The principal of the college is the sole authority at the

institutional level for administrative matter. The principal

utilizes the allotted government funds as far as the financial

matters are concerned . The principal constitutes a special

UGC committee as per the norms of the UGC for the

utilization of the grants of the UGC . The local developmental

funds are spent by the Janbhagidari Samiti at the college

level which consists of the president nominated by the state

government , however at present the government has not

nominated the president for this Samiti .

The Janbhagidari Samiti approves the annual budget and also

manages the self financed courses.

The sole body functioning in the college is the staff council

where the decisions have the statutory standings.

When serious complaints are received at first, the principal

tries to solve the problem between them. When this

process fails, the principal hands over the case to the

coordinator of the related committee and then

summons both the complainant and the accused. If both of

them wish, the committee arrives at conclusion after

examining and recording the statements of the both parties

and further recommended to the principal for necessary

against the college and the D.H.E.

Yes, the institution has a mechanism for analyzing student

feedback on institution performance. There are effective

responses and outcomes for them. Grievances box is

time-table, allocation of units to individual teachers, in

determining the fee-structure of self- financing courses,

The institution marks many efforts to enhance the professional

and employees through training and motivating in various

ways. They are sent to state government’s administrative

academy for getting training in their job enhancements and

developments. They are also facilitated to various seminars

workshops and activities related to research related activities.

The college adapts to various strategies for the empowerment

of the faculty members by motivating the employees for the

roles and responsibility they perform .They are sent to

orientation and refresher courses and the training provided

by various agencies such as the state government and the

Government of India.

The college also empowers the faculty members

conduct research on their topics by motivating them in this

regard and facilitating them through various sources and

schemes.

The college follows the “academic performance index” format

as was devised by the UGC, adapted by the state government

in the college where outcomes of assessment is

communicated to the stakeholders. The principal chairs

a committee of three members to do the performance

appraisal which is then forwarded to the additional

director for his comments before being forwarded of

the final authority on the matter i.e. the commissioner,

commissioner level, the API ratings are taken into

account in order to give placements and promotions to

individual teaching and non teaching staff.

There are various welfare schemes available to the teaching

staff as per the strategies adapted by the government of

as well as opportunities for those who want to improve their

education qualification. The government provides loans for

building houses /to purchase computers. The college council

motivates the faculty members through prompt appreciation

of merit and talent though various opportunities for self

expression. The M.P. Government and the affiliating

university have implementation of social welfare schemes for

teaching staff such as:

1. Every year 10 medical leaves are given to the employees.

2. There is a provision of maternity and paternity leaves.

3.Duty leave is given at the possibility.

3. Staff members are given an insurance policy known as GIS

whose premier is automatically deducted from their salary.

under the Prime Minister's welfare scheme namely Pradhan

Mantri Suraksha Bhima.

scheduled areas.

The facility of ‘ Anukampa’ is given to the wards of the

employees who face sudden and unexpected accidental

deaths.

The institution is not under autonomous body but bound to

the rules and regulation of the department of higher education

M.P. so faculty members are attracted under the policy of

government orders. The college tries its best to maintain the

quality by appointing well experienced and result oriented

faculty members. The salary and allowances are given to them

under the norms of UGC. The college also invites guest faculty

members through advertisements and through the internet .

A. Government funds:

The college manages all the financial resources effectively and

in a very transparent way. The government funds are utilized

under two kinds of budgetary allocation such as plan and non

plan. The expenditures like salaries, wages and various

regular allowances including TA/DA

plan expenditures have been under ‘global system’ since the

last three years which means allocation on actual basis.

B. Janbagridari funds:

The various developmental works are carried on by the funds

collected by the Janbhagidari Samiti. Every student pays Rs

251/- as annual fee and the collected funds are used after the

sanctions from the samiti and the management committee of

the college . They prepare various projects proposals

regarding both short term and long term plans and essential of

the college in academic and others area such as staff/students

welfare various projects are approved and accepted after

considering details about them. The resolutions are recorded

in the register as they have statutory standing. The college

administration holds the responsibility of the implication of

various projects sanctioned.

C. UGC development grants:-

UGC development grants are allotted based on the proposals

submitted by the college in every five year .The principal

constitutes a planning board which prepares a detailed

proposal and submitted to UGC. The college adapts a long

term development plan in areas such as academic,

infrastructure equipment and books. The utilization of UGC

grants are predetermined and the principal is authorized to

utilize the amount for the approved items bases on purchase

and construction rates and parameters as laid down by the

government of Madhya Pradesh and the UGC.

Internal and external;-

All the accounting process of the college is subjected to audit

by the external qualified C.A. appointed by the M.P.

government and the Janbhagidari Samiti before 31 march

every year. The auditing report is presented before the

president secretary of the college Janbhagidari Samiti for

rectification. The objections of audit are taken into

consideration for the forth coming year and also all the

government funds are audited by the department of higher

education, govt. of m. p. and the office of

the accountant general M.P. The last audit book took place in

the year 2015. The UGC funds are audited by a charted

account and the audited accounts are sent to the UGC, Central

Regional Office, Bhopal. The Auditing for UGC grants is done

under each head on which the funds are allocated , namely the

Building construction, Purchase of equipments/books and

journals, furniture, computer, expenses incurred by the career

Guidance cell etc. The UGC account is audited by the C.A.

every year.

The accounts of Janbhagidari samiti is registered under the

Registrar. A chattered accountant and the annual audited

accounts are presented to the Registrar of Firms and Societies

and the copy is sent to the Government body.

6.4.3 What are the major sources of institutional receipts/funding

and how is the deficit managed? Provide audited income and

All the audits of the college starting from 2011 to 2015 have

been done by the C. A. under the direction of the Department

of Higher education.

1. The regular expenses are funded by the State

Government as the college is a government institution.

four years are mentioned above in para 6.4.1.

The Government of M.P., The Janbhagidari samiti and the

UGC. The college keeps sending proposals to UGC for

additional funds. An additional grant of Rs. 50 Lakh was

sanctioned to the college in the XI Plan the college has

forwarded proposals for an additional grant of

rupees.71.40.Lakh for infrastructure development such as

Laboratory building ,equipments and administrative building

construction.

The college has established an Internal Quality Assessment

Cell. The cell conducts meeting in regular meeting to assess the

targets fixed in the previous meeting.

checking the daily dairy of the teachers, attendance registers,

various cells time to time. Any new program is introduced

after visiting and assuring of the University authorities. The

academic auditing also include the analysis of examination

and a cell is also formed to assure the quality.

The Quality improvement cell and the IQAC work under the

chairmanship of the principal which conducts the CCE, and

other tests, such as, checking of daily teaching diaries,

of the principal himself; and stress is given in the application

manner. Due to this process we are gradually marching

towards our targets.

7.1 Environment Consciousness

7.1.1 Does the Institute conduct a Green Audit of its campus and

There are various activities of the College which are done

regarding green audit. Since there is no any polluting agents

and emission of harmful gas from the college . The college

takes all the necessary steps concerning environment

consciousness. The college has done enough work regarding

enrichment of environment, such as tree plantation

The college has taken various initiatives to make the

environment of the college eco-friendly, such as:

∗ Energy conservation

All the traditional tungsten bulbs are replaced with C.F.L.

bulbs and taking steps to convert them into L.E.D. Proper

attention is paid to switch off the bulbs and fans etc after the

classes.

∗ Use of renewable energy

The college has proposed for introducing solar-energy

plantation for the uninterrupted electricity supply for

economical consumption of electricity. The work regarding this

is on anvil.

∗ Water harvesting

The college has successfully made the water harvesting from

the root and from the college campus by storing and

recharging the bore well of the college. This has resulted n

increasing of the ground water level of the college and

neighboring areas are also benefitting by this the college has

planted around 300 trees in the premises with the help of

teachers, students and volunteers. The college has done under

the Haryali project.

∗ Check dam construction

The college has taken much efforts to naturally store water by

stocking the waste-flowing water in the college premise. The

college has not constructed any check dam due to undulated

terrain.

Since there is no any polluting agents in college, there is not

much carbon emission than the few vehicles that ply on the

college. The college observes No- Vehicle day once a week.

The college has planted many trees in the campus area with the

and more trees in the college premises during every monsoon.

1. Competitive Exam Coaching: Couching is given to

students in competitive exams, such as Banking,

Mathematics and other refresher courses. The students are

given the knowhow of banking process by taking them to

bank for visits.

• Arts &craft:- clay modeling, painting and sketches

are thought to students.

• Speeches on current topics, G.K. activities such as

public speeches on current topic, General Knowledge

Awareness, extempore speech and assembly. The

students are encouraged to come to dais to give their

extempore speeches on the topics of punctuality

discipline, cultural awareness about national heritage

and patriotism by giving them knowledge about great

patriotic leaders. Some of the scientific innovative

methods such as smart class room with interactive

board and multimedia system adapted. Female

students of this college are trained in karate Art at an

eight-days camp and around 50 girls participated in

Format for Best Practice Presentation 1. Title of the practice Uniform Dress code and Garlanding of I.D. 2. Goal The goals behind the implementation of uniform dress code

among the student is to inculcate equality among them as they

are from different society and of from different status. It also

maintains strict discipline among them so that they can

become responsible citizens of the nation. It also enables the

college management to keep a tag on anti-social elements

intrusion into the college. The college management is also able

to identify the students outside the college and takes stock of

their activities.

3. The context: Implementing the uniform dress code in school level is not a

difficult task as they are minors and unable to take their

individual decision, however the students of graduation level

have likeness to display their own choice as they are

independent decision makers. Majority of the students from

this college willingly accepted the Uniform Dress Code as they

are coming from rural areas and most of them are

economically backward ones. Wearing Uniform gives them

confidence and they avoid the feelings of inferiority complex.

There is not any objection from any of the students regarding

the Uniform Dress Code.

4.The Practice The students held meeting themselves and passed the

resolution of uniform dress code and which came into

existence since 2014-15 The MSW students have been adapting

to the uniform culture since 2010 The male students of

commerce stream wear pink shirt and black trousers and the

female candidates wear pink kurta and black salwar. The male

students of Arts & science wear sky blue shirts and black

trousers and the female students of these streams wear sky

blue kurta and black salwar. The MSW male students wear

white shirt and black Trousers.

The Female students wear whit e suit and red dupatta. It

enables the college management to identify and check the

presence of them in a regular and disciplined manner. It also

enables the college management to identify students of

deferent streams separately and cheek if any unwanted

presence of students from one stream to another.

To maintain the consistency of the practice of dress code

among the students, all the teachers are instructed not to allow

any student without proper uniform. To implement this

practice of dress code among the students, all the teachers are

regularly and compulsorily wear (garland) the I.D. card

around their neck with a cord. The college provides the cords

to them, for wearing their neck. The students are motivated to

to identify their status or position in the college. The students

themselves are assigned the task of checking the uniform

discipline among the students. The students do the inspection

5. Evidence of Success. The Evidence of Success regarding to the goals set by the

college administration on the topic of good maintenance of

discipline can be clearly observed. Since the implication of

uniform dress Code, there is sharp decline in the presence of

any anti-social elements in the college premises resulting in

maintenance of discipline and propriety within the college

premise.

Students- to-student discipline checking is done regarding

uniform dress code, the presence of unwanted social elements

in the college is avoided as the students used to bring their

friends who are not enrolled in the college as strictly

prohibited entry into the college. Since the college is

surrounded by slums , unwanted elements presence is strictly

checked. The Additional Director, who visited our institution

praised and encouraged the process of Uniform dress code in

the college. The strict maintenance of discipline has raised the

reputation of the college in the society.

6. Problems Encountered and Resources Required : The college has not encounter any problems regarding the

implication of the uniform dress code .Majority of the students

supported and welcomed this proposal. Some students

encountered financial problems in arranging the uniform as

they are coming from economically weaker sections. Some of

them are economically aided by the college for stitching

uniforms. They are given cheap tailoring arrangements. Free

Laminated covers for their I.D. are issued to them as it is not

available at the local market. They are purchased from Indore.

BEST PRECTICES N0 2 1. Title of the practice Environment Awareness 2. Goal The college is taking serious efforts regarding environmental

awareness. To achieve perfect environment for learners, to

promote Environmental Awareness to every common man

and to live an eco -friendly life.

3.Context: Although the students were taught Environment awareness in

their school level they lacked practical knowledge regarding

this topic. The college provided excellent practical knowledge

by engaging the students and teachers, to participate in

environmental works. NSS volunteers and all both the

teaching and learning societies are considered regarding the

obligation towards nature and take steps to prevent any sort of

pollution. Students are informed about the importance of

sustainable development and Eco-friendly life. They are

practically given tasks and assignments on this topic.

4.Practice: A. Water Conservation: Water Harvesting is successfully practiced by the college by

properly using the wasted water flowing during rainy days.

The college took necessary actions and gained success by

stocking the rain water within the campus. The under ground

water levels has raised due to the works done by the college.

There was great scarcity for water till 2008. The water level of

bore wells have raised now. The dam system is seriously

adapted by the college within its boundary. The college

collected water samples from various neighboring and

examined their thickness and their sustainability for drinking

and Farming with natural colors.. There was great water

scarcity till 2008 but now there is good stock of water in the

college premises and the neighboring places. The

Underground water level has risen now Rallies are regularly

conducted for water Conservation.

B. Air Pollution: The quality of the air present in this college and neighboring

villages are quite good comparing to major cities and towns

where there is more pollution . Yet, The college conducted

Awareness campaigns and rallies along the roads of the town

and people are given awareness about the dangers of air

pollution. Steps are taken by the college to promote No vehicle

Day once a week. Rallies and awareness campaigns are

conducted by the college. The college never produces any

harmful gases or chemicals from its laboratory.

C. Tree Plantation: Much effort is taken by the college to make the campus more

environmental friendly with sources of rich greenery. The

college planted around 300 trees in its premise and has been

successful in growing them. The college is located in a rocky

area so that the survival rate of trees are less comparing to

fertile places. Now the college environment looks greener than

before as many of the trees are growing well. These tree

plantation were done with the help of NSS volunteers and the

forest Department. Plants also grow around the college

premise.

D. Waste Management: Garbage are properly collected and supplied to the Municipal

garbage collectors regularly and proper attention is given to

check polythene and other major polluting waste materials.

The college disposes plastic wastes to the junk dealer and to

the rag-pickers. All the classes have dustbins for this

purposes.

E. Electricity Conservation: Much attention is paid to ensure electricity conservation All

electric consuming appliances and gadgets are switched off

after their use. The college saves electric energies by replacing

the traditional tungsten bulbs with C.F.L. Bulbs. Actions are

being taken to replace them with L.E.D. bulbs. The college is

also planning to install solar-energy resources.

F. Stationery Saving The college administration encourages both side use of papers

in order to save stationeries for official and academic purpose

to save trees.

G.Drinking ater awwareness and waterless Holi .

The water samples are collected and tested of their purity

and thickness if they are eligible for drinking purposes .The

college encourages to celebrate waterless Holi.

Evidence of success There are several evidences present in the college regarding

the achievement of targets. In 2007 those was only one tree

present in the college premise but now there are many trees

making the college environment look greener. The students

have more awareness about environmental causes. There is

perfect environment for teaching and learning now. The rain

water harvesting process is also one of the successful

achievements by the college. The society is also more aware

about the causes of environment. The bore well of the college

has increased water level. At present there is no water scarcity.

areas have adapted to clean environment and are well known

to the importance of Swatch Bharat campaign and also there is

increased co-operation from them in keeping the surrounding

environment clean and tidy. The students of the college have

development the habit of using dust-bins which are placed

before every class rooms. There is social awareness among

people regarding the harmfulness of polythene. It is the result

of the campaigns and rallies conducted by the college. Earlier

people from surrounding areas used go for open defecation

but now they are awareness given about the harmfulness of it

and now most of them have constructed toilets and they avoid

open defecation. As the result of rallies, the people of this

town avoid using vehicles once a week or once a fortnight. The

famers from surrounding areas have adapted to traditional

farming systems for fertilizing with natural manures and they

cause of human have been greatly harming the original

ecological structure of the earth resulted in serious and

unexpected climate changes and irregular weather pattern..

Forest cover of the earth is seriously disappearing and getting

converted into farm lands and urban land. Increasing

exposure to very harmful Ultra Violet rays of the sun is

leading us towards various skin diseases, eye cataract and

even cancer. Excessive use of pesticides, insecticides and

chemical fertilizers have seriously damaged the soil-quality.

There is no distributive monsoon system like earlier but there

is cloud burst and unprecedented flood. Many precious

animals and species are in the verge of extinction. Water

pollution has made many aquatic animals extinct forever. If

we are not taking effective steps towards the betterment of

the Earth and environment, these burning issues will go out of

control. So, every common citizen has to be given awareness

regarding these problems.

The various activities and measures taken by this college

should be role models for various other institutions. Students

are to be taught practically regarding their responsibility to

wards nature. This college hopes and wishes all to unite

together for the cause of natural conservation and together we

should take steps to protect mother earth and the

environment.

The subject has a vast scope for jobs. It is also a valuable

SWOC Analysis

Strength:- The department of Physics is well equipped with advanced

technological facilities, expensive and experimental equipment

available.

Weakness:- Almost all students come from nearby villages so they have a

little Knowledge about a science specially in the physics

subject. So it is very difficult to teach them.

Opportunities:- Job available in different Govt. and private sector such as

technical sector, teaching, private job in company and

industries.

Challenges:- Although Physics department has well equipped with

instrument but students have to display their talent in all other

sphere to enlighten their career is a big challenge.

Future Plan:- • Technical arrangement to promote technology.

• To update students by latest technology.

Strength:- Before inclusion of M.S.W in this college there was no subject

for P.G. in this college. Janbhagidari Samiti of the college

decided to provide P.G. course and it is an employment

generated course. So that the Samiti decided to open M.S.W.

It is a backward and tribal region so the social work is

important in this area.

Weakness :- Although the subject is a very good and employment

generated but the main problem is that it is running as a self

finance course so the student are unable to pay the fees . It also

affects in the process to teacher selection. due to insufficient

salary, eligible teachers are not interested to come here and due

to lack of funds there is lack in infrastructure.

Opportunities:-

There is vast area of the opportunities in the field of N.G.Os.

Challenges:-

After 2012 so many colleges has started this subject in the

nearby areas in their colleges. So the students strength in this

college become less.

Future Plan:-

• Increase in infrastructure.

• search in and eligible teachers.

• Persuade students to take it more seriously.
