Matching contribution from GoI LIC is the Pension Fund Manager Farmers covered under any other statuary social security schemes are not covered under this scheme. If farmer dies before retirement date, the spouse may continue in the scheme till the remaining age of the deceased farmer. If the farmer dies after the retirement date, the spouse will receive 50% of the pension.

Income protection scheme for farmers

New Umbrella Scheme for Ensuring remunerative prices to the farmers for their produce. To plug the gaps in procurement system, address issues in MSP system

three components 1. Price Support Scheme - physical procurement of pulses, oilseeds and copra will be done by Central Nodal Agencies NAFED, FCI.The procurement expenditure and losses will be borne by Central Government. 2. Price Deficiency Payment Scheme : This will cover all oilseeds for which MSP is notified and Centre will pay the difference between the MSP and actual selling/ model price to the farmer. (no physical procurement of crops)

3. Pilot of Private Procurement and Stockiest Scheme (PPSS): In the case of oilseeds, PPSS in select districts where a private player can procure crops at MSP when market prices drop below MSP. The private player will then be compensated. States will have the option to roll out PPSSs in select districts.

Premium payable by farmers :Kharif- 2%, Rabi-1.5%, Horticultural crops-5% No capping of premium. Both Private and Public Sector Insurance Companies are involved Funding:Centre and state government in the ratio of 50:50. no upper limit on Government subsidy. (recently Centre has put cap on its share, now States will have to bear extra burden if actual premium crosses 30%) Risks covered - Yield Losses due to non-preventable risks, Post-harvest losses.It also covers localised calamities. Soil Health Card Scheme (SHC)
