gowanus watershed potential blueways map draft, january 2011
DESCRIPTION
This map is a Preliminary Study of some of the stormwater runoff issues contributing to Combined Sewer Overflows in the Gowanus Canal. Raw Sewage is dumped into the Canal when too much rainwater gets into the sewer system via the street storm drains and roof and yard drains. The purpose of the map is to explore potential at grade "Blueway" rainwater water street swales that dump rainwater straight into the Canal rather than mixing rainwater with sewage. Also explores historic sewer tunnels. Prepared by Eymund Diegel. WILL BE REPLACED, as it is still missing data, and has fact and accuracy issues to resolve.
