 V3  GP  Wing  Installation  Guide

First  of  all,  I  would  like  to  thank  you  for  your  support.

Before  you  proceed,  please  read  through  this  step-‐by-‐step  guide  carefully.

We  are  not  responsible  for  any  type  of  damage  to  your  vehicle  from  this  installation.  The  process  is  very  simple  and  straightforward.  If  you  are  not  comfortable  performing  it,  please  take  it  to  your  local  professionals.

We  recommend  you  test  fitting  first  before  painting.

Parts  checklist:    . 1)    3-‐piece  GP  Wing  (2  sides  and  1  center)

. 2)    1x  bag  of  screws

4x  long  screws,

4x  long  screws  (self  tapping)

2x  short  screws

. 3)    2x  metal  brackets

. 4)    2x  shark  fin  covers

Required  Tools/Parts:    . 1)    Rotary  drill

. 2)    Screwdrivers

. 3)    Blue  tape

. 4)    Small  spacers  (can  be  found  in  any  hardware  store)

. 5)    Adhesive  foams  tape/Sponge  window  seal  (can  be  found  in  any  hardware  store)

Helpful  Tips:    . 1)         We  recommend  having  2  to  3  people  for  this  installation  job.

. 2)         We  provide  two  types  of  screws  for  the  attachment  between  the  side  wing  and  the  hatch.  One  is  self-‐tapping,  and  one  is  not.  With  different  model  and  year,  the  structures  of  the  hatch  varied.  Please  choose  the  either  type  accordingly.  Again  you  only  need  one  type  of  the  screws.

. 3)         We  strongly  suggest  you  test  fitting  the  spoiler  first  before  taking  it  to  the  paint  shop.  All  these  spoilers  have  been  tested  and  proven  to  fit  on  R53  and  R56  MINIs.  However,  no  two  cars  have  the  same  measurement  for  hatch  door  gap.  Some  might  have  slightly  tighter  fit  than  the  others.  Please  test  fit  it  on  your  car  first  before  you  paint  the  parts.

The  Step-‐By-‐Step  Installation

1.  TEST  IT   1. Try  each  side  of  the  wing  on  the  hatch  separately  to  see  if  the  hatch  closes  without  touching  anything.

2. After  trying  on  both  sides  on  and  making  sure  that  they  fit,  put  both  sides  on  at  the  same  time  and  then  bolt  the  center  blade  on.  (you’ll  need  someone  else  to  help  you  hold  it  while  performing  this  step)

3. After  bolting  on  the  center  blade  and  making  sure  they  are  secured,  now  you  may  close  the  hatch.  You  may  need  to  adjust  the  angle  of  the  spoiler.  The  vertical  portion  of  the  side  wings  should  be  parallel  to  each  other.

4. If  all  goes  well,  you  now  have  a  ready  to  paint  GP  Wing.

2.  PAINT  IT/  VINYL  WRAP  IT/  PLASTI-‐DIP  IT

3.  MOUNT  IT

1. You  should  now  have  a  set  of  painted/wrapped  spoiler.    2. Blue  tape  the  edges  and  mounting  surface  to  protect  the

paint  before  you  start  the  installation  because  you  are  likely  to  scratch  the  paint  if  you  don’t  mask  it.

3. Remove  the  plastic  trims  from  the  inside  of  your  hatch.  You  will  have  to  remove  some  screws  before  you  pull  it  out  with  some  force.  Make  sure  no  screws  are  attached  when  you  pull  it.

 4. Detach  the  plugs  and  pull  the  wires  away  so  that  you  don’t

damage  them  from  drilling  later  on.

 5. Use  blue  tape  to  protect  your  hatch  and  mark  the  desired

drilling  spot.

 6. Drill  two  small  holes  through  the  hatch  on  the  marked  spots

and  then  assemble  the  GP  Wing  on  the  hatch.  So  now  you  have  a  freely  moving  GP  Wing  sliding  up  and  down  on  your  hatch.

 7. With  the  help  from  another  person,  while  one  holds  the

entire  assembled  GP  Wing,  the  other  one  prepares  to  drive  the  screws  in.

8. It  is  recommended  to  have  a  3rd  person  standing  behind  to  make  sure  the  wing  is  leveled.

9. If  you  use  the  non  self-‐tapping  screws,  we  have  metal  brackets  to  provide  you  with  extra  re-‐enforcement  for  the  mounting.

10. Now  enjoy  the  new  look  of  your  MINI!  J
