Piecing:1. Lay out fabrics 1-18 in 18 vertical rows with the 2 1/2" squares of fabric 19 between the fabrics as shown.

Follow number placement and press seams away from fabric 19. Join vertical rows to make a quilt top. Press seams in one direction.

2. For inner borders, sew together the 1-1/2" strips of fabric 20 to make one long strip.

3. Measure the quilt top and trim two borders the length of the sides. Sew to the sides of the quilt top. Press seams toward border strips.

4. From the remaining fabric 20 strip, cut two more borders the width of the quilt top. Sew to top and bottom of quilt. Press seams toward border strips.

5. Attach outer borders, mitering corners(see Curved Ribbon-Style Mitered Border instructions on next page).


1. Fold and mark with pins the center of the quilt top’s outer edges on all four sides.

2. Place a border strip parallel to the side of the quilt. Fold under the top corner at 45°.

3. With the border strip and quilt right sides together, carefully pin the border to the quilt stopping at the center pin. Fold the unpinned segment of the border strip over and press at center pin forming a 90° fold. Trim the excess length leaving the pinned strip 1˝ longer than necessary for the seam allowance. Repeat this process with another border strip for the other end of the quilt side.

4. Bring the center of the strips together and sew. Press seam open. Trim excess fabric.

5. Repeat the process for the remaining side, top and bottom edges of the quilt.

6. Bring the two 45° creases together. Sew directly along the crease. Trim excess fabric leaving a 1/4˝ seam allowance. Press open.

7. Repeat for the remaining corners of the quilt.

8. Layer the quilt backing (wrong side up), batting and quilt top (right side up) together. Baste the layers to secure.

9. Quilt as desired.

10. Trim the backing and batting flush with the quilt top. Bind the edges using a 3/8” wide seam allowance.
