Lord, as we prepare to begin this meeting,

We will recall your promise to be present when two

or more are gathered in your name.

We know that without you here among us,

and with each one of us, we will labour in vain.

Grant us the willingness to be open to each other,

To respect each other, to listen to each other,

and to be supportive of each other

for the sake of the kingdom.

Lord, unite us in your spirit.

RESPONSE: Walk closely with us, God. As we strive to live our lives well. RESPONSE As we continue to surrender ourselves to you. RESPONSE As we journey into unknown territory. RESPONSE As we learn to accept our weaknesses and our strengths. RESPONSE As we open our hearts to the messengers you send to us. RESPONSE As we keep searching for the truth. RESPONSE

TOGETHER: Lord, unite us in your spirit. Amen

to parent survey – Spring 2012

2) Response to one of Halton Catholic District School Board system priorities …to expand the breadth of learning opportunities offered.

3) Pilot Early French Immersion program is an additional French program, differing from the existing Extended French program.

4) Part of our response to the Ministry’s call to action to strengthen FSL in Ontario, as expressed in the Framework for French as a second language.

EARLY FRENCH IMMERSION --

How does it compare to Extended French? §  EFI Begins in Grade 1

§  In the EFI program: 4 periods of instruction in French language and 3 periods of instruction in English instruction

§  In both programs: Curriculum aligned to English

§  Both programs: Available at designated schools: students leave their home school and become FULL-TIME members of the Immersion school

§  Both programs: For students whose parents are not French first language speaking

We discuss both programs so that parents understand their options!

Information you should know

1) Transportation will be provided ONLY for students in the Early French Immersion Program to the designated school as long as they remain in this program until the end of Gr. 8 (Policy 11-24). §  enrolment in EFI does NOT guarantee that siblings

§  even if a sibling is granted cross-boundary permission, s/he must apply for a courtesy seat on the bus. It should be noted that each year, the siblings must re-apply: there is no guarantee from year to year

§  there is no transportation for after-school extra-curricular events/activities
