Teacher preparation before startingNote that all references to online websites are optional1. Introduce the Grade 2 Healthy food theme with a focus on dairy products, namely yoghurt a) Have an oral discussion to � nd out what the learners know about dairy products, especially yoghurt b) Identify some of the necessary vocabulary for this worksheet and prepare the � ashcards as follows

Di� erent types of food for health: yoghurt, poster, � avour, taste, describe, dairy

c) For Worksheet two, make a poster yourself to demonstrate what you are wanting from the learners. Create a list of what you want them to put on their poster; e.g. a name for the product, a drawing in colour, a slogan to go with the product d) For Worksheet three, ensure that you have already created a grasshead person for the learners to see. Make sure you have su� cient resources for this activity

nDi� erent types of food for health* If you have brought real containers of yoghurt or pictures of yoghurt, use them now to stimulate knowledge sharing yoghurt – its colour, its � avour, what it tastes and looks like, how to eat it, where it comes from etc.* Do some � ashcard revision from the vocabulary cards you have prepared* Let the learner’s taste some of the real yoghurt to stimulate their taste buds and elicit vocabulary from them for this. These could be adjectives in which case revise what an adjective is. Write the words on the board* Talk about an imaginary yoghurt that the learners will create - they will present their ideas on a poster. Show them your own poster which contains the elements you wish them to have, i.e. a name for the product, a drawing in colour, a slogan to go with the product. This section could be done individually or in groups. Encourage the learners to use their dictionaries to look for the correct spelling* After they have completed their poster they write either a selection of adjectives or a sentence or two to describe how they imagine their yoghurt tastes* Let them complete the last sentence on this worksheet making a pledge of what they will do in the future when it comes to eating dairy and staying healthy

Expanded opportunities* For Worksheet two you could make a tally of everyone’s favourite � avour, and then make a bar graph of the results. Let the learners do the same* For Worksheet three: Grass head characters the learners could create their own calendars to mark o� the seven days. Combine this with a Maths lesson.
