LITERACY NUMERACY INTEGRATED Spelling Monday

Reading – Independent reading for 20 minutes. Continue to read your Just Right Book and Create a 5 W’s Organiser or use the one provided about your book. What happened? When did it happen? Where did it happen? Who was involved? Why did it happen? How else could the story have ended? Writing – Writer’s Notebook Ideas (power point) Take your notebook outside and look around you. What do you see, hear, feel? Is there an image you can describe? Choose from the week 3 spelling words and choose either the red, orange or green list of spelling words. Write your words in your blue writing books and colour the vowels red and the consonants blue.

Tuesday

Reading – Seesaw Log into Seesaw and listen to the instructions for: ‘Reading Routine with Think Aloud’. Then complete the activity on the template. Writing – story setting Read the passage about ‘Stephanie’. After reading write about what the character can see, smell, taste, touch and hear. Now draw the setting.

Subtraction bingo: Log into seesaw and complete the subtraction bingo game. Solve the different subtraction equations until you have a bingo. Mathletics: Complete set mathletics tasks on subtraction.

Reading – Independent reading for 20 minutes. Continue to read your Just Right Book and Illustrate a scene. Make sure you write about your illustration, either by adding a couple of sentences below – or you could use speech bubbles to explain the illustration. Punctuation- Seesaw activity. Complete the exclamation mark tasks.

Writing –Read the story about Mr H Bear. Answer the questions about Mr H Bear via the google quiz assigned to you.

Grandparents Day Activities: Choose a grandparents day to complete. Have a look at what your teacher has assigned to you on seesaw and pick which one you would like to complete. You can complete as many as you like.

Using your Spelling words, choose a spelling activity from the Spelling Grid. Make sure you choose a variety of spelling activities. Put a photo of your spelling activity on Google Classroom via the set task.

Thurs

Reading – Seesaw Log into Seesaw and listen to the instructions for: ‘Reading Character Traits’. Please, listen and read along "Henry's Freedom Box" by Ellen Levin. Then, use the T and label the picture with 4 character traits that describe Henry. Grammar- Log on to seesaw. Complete the synonyms and antonyms task. Choose any word you like. Think of a synonym to go with that word (a word that means the same thing e.g. laugh and giggle) and an antonym for the word (a word that has the opposite meaning e.g. laugh and cry).

Subtraction Mathletics: Work through the assigned mathletics subtraction tasks set by your teacher. You must complete all set tasks before using live mathletics.

Wellbeing Activity Practising Gratitude Practising gratitude means you are regularly thinking about all the things you are grateful for in your life. Research suggest that practicing gratitude can improve our mental health. For example, I am grateful for the warm sun on my skin. Write 4 things in your life you’re are grateful for. You can write and draw. Share it with a family member. You can practise this each day. You don’t have to write/draw, just thinking about what you are grateful for is good for you too.

Writing – Following on from yesterday’s activity on Mr H Bear, choose your own MASCOT. Write a story about your mascot/ loved toy. Take photos or draw pictures of your mascot/toy. Upload to google classroom.

Friday

Literacy– Watch one of the stories about a grandpa – Grandpa’s Cardigan, Grandpa’s teeth or Grandpa’s Slippers. While you are reading think about your grandparents. Using seesaw, record a video to show connections you had with the text comparing the grandpa in the story to one of your grandparents. Use different adjectives to describe. Problem Solving: Complete the assigned Mathletics problem solving task. Don’t forget to use the workbook on Mathletics to show your working out.

Free Fun Friday – Pick a board game or a game to play with your family (Charades, Guess Who, Monopoly, Chess, Go fish, etc.). Spend some time with your family having fun and playing a game.

Using your spelling words and get a sibling or parent to test you on your spelling words. Don’t forget to self correct :-) Write your words in your boo and upload a photo of your results to google classroom or record your spelling test and upload the video to seesaw.
