● The 6th grade Art program meets once a week for 50 minutes.

● K-12 arts curriculim: based on State and National standards and alligned with Common Core.

● Areas of focus are: technical drawing, painting, creative drawing, mixed media, and ceramics.

Health EducationMiss Courtney GalottiStudents will come to class once a week for 50 minutes during the first half of the year.

Students will learn about physical, social, and emotional health. Topics will include nutrition, wellness, communication, drug and alcohol awareness, decision making, stress management, and growth and development.

World Language - Spanish

¡Bienvenidos!•The Spanish program here at TBS will continue this year with a focus on language and culture and a strong emphasis on listening, writing, speaking.

6th Grade Gen. Music Class

Students will come to General Music Class once per week (50 minute period). They will continue studying

musical concepts of Solfege Singing, Staff Notes, Computer Composition, Piano Skills, Music History, etc. Emphasis is placed on ensemble composing

and performing .

6th Grade ChorusThe 6th Grade Chorus is a voluntary group of

singers who will meet once per week for 50 minutes to continue to refine the choral concepts of Tone,

Technique, Pitch and Rhythm. Songs from various cultures, genres and historic time periods will be learned and presented at our Winter and Spring

Concerts.

Instrumental Music - Band6th Grade Band at TBS:● One 25 minute small group lesson per week. The lessons are “pull-outs”, which

occur throughout the school day on a rotating basis.● One full ensemble rehearsal per week. The rehearsal is 50 minutes long and

does not conflict with any other classes.

● Students should practice their instrument for 10-20 minutes daily. To verify your child’s practice minutes each week, sign the practice log located at the back of your child’s lesson book.

- Winter Concert - Spring Concert. - Smaller informal and formal performances throughout the year.

● 6th grade is the first year that band students will be eligible to audition for the Northern Region Middle School Music Festival.
