1. master of Arts in Cultural Studies (1-year)

The Master of Arts in Cultural Studies is a course-based one-year program which provides students the opportunity to explore culture and the arts as part of a social, economic and political environment. The educational objective of the program is to train graduate students to conduct research that reflects an interdisciplinary understanding of culture.

The M.A. in Cultural Studies is a degree with two currently approved specializations: 1) texts and Cultures and 2) Curatorial Practices.

2. master of Arts in Indigenous Governance (2-year)

The two-year, thesis-based M.A. program in Indigenous Governance offers students an innovative and unique indigenous-centered, graduate level education designed to prepare them to take on leadership or advisory roles within Indigenous and non-indigenous governments and organizations; or to further their educations in a variety of Ph.d. programs.

3. master of Arts in Environmental, Resource and Development Economics (ERDE) (1-year)

What is the economic impact of climate change? Must we sacrifice the environment to develop our economies? Can natural resources be developed sustainable? How can nations overcome low incomes and poor health? These are some of the important questions investigated in the course-based Master of arts in environmental, resource and Development economics (erDe) Program at the University of Winnipeg. Graduates analyze how social, environmental and economic issues interact with one another on local and global levels.

The University of Winnipeg currently offers a diverse variety of Graduate Studies Programs: Free-standing University of Winnipeg programs, graduate programming in Theology, Marriage and Family Therapy through the Aurora Family Therapy Centre and Joint Masters Programming with the University of Manitoba.  Each type of program has its own set of specific information and application processes.

international demands in both the health and environmental sciences. Winnipeg is the nexus for health sciences research with the development of BioMed City, growing research capacity in the biotechnology industry, and the presence of provincial and federal government health agencies.

7. Theology

a. master of Divinity: The Master of divinity (Mdiv) program offers theological education that is in accord with the standards of The Association of Theological Schools (ATS). The Mdiv program recognizes the importance of each distinct tradition and ensures that students become well acquainted with their own heritage while remaining sensitive to denominational interests. The program also facilitates transfer credit with other seminaries accredited by ATS. Through its multi-denominational approach, the Master of divinity program prepares people to serve and lead in various Christian denominations and the community at large.

b. master of Arts (Theology): The Master of Arts (Theology) offers four areas of concentration (1) Peace and Justice Studies, (2) Biblical Studies, (3) Theology and Church History and (4) Pastoral Theology.

c. master of Arts in Spiritual Disciplines and ministry practices: The Master of Arts in Spiritual disciplines and Ministry Practices offers three areas of concentration: (1) Spirituality and Spiritual Care (including Pastoral Education) and (2) Applied Ministry (Centre for Christian Studies - CCS).

Areas of Specialization for Master of Sacred Theology include (1) Biblical Studies, (2) Historical and Contemporary Theology, (3) Applied Theology, Pastoral Care and Counseling, and Spiritual direction and (4) Intercultural Ministry (United Church of Canada)

8. master of marriage and family Therapy

The strength of the Master of Marriage and Family Therapy is its clinical focus. The core of the program is the 500 hours of therapy under supervision that each student completes primarily at Aurora Family Therapy Centre located on The University of Winnipeg campus. Another reflection of the clinical focus is that all Faculty members are themselves practicing therapists, and all Supervisors are approved by or Supervisors-in-Training with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.

The program is structured to meet the needs of the part time student; this fits for those already working in the field who wish to develop a specialty in marriage and family therapy, and for those who are just beginning their career and need time and life experience to develop as a therapist. The typical student registers for the equivalent of one or two full courses annually.
