THE BROOKLYN STANDARD UNION: FRIDAY, JANUARY 27, 1922. Graduation Exercises in High and Elementary Schools AB appeal for support of tha demand for the early com- ttstion of Erasmus High School buildings and a note of warning that the overcrowded conditions in Erasmus and all other city klfh schools, unless immediate remedial steps are taken, will prove very detrimental to the proper education of the students ware the outstanding points in the address made to the 185 members of the January class at the semi-annual commence- ment exercises last evening by the principal, Dr. J. Herbert Low. Dr. Irew spoke directly and sarn- •etly to tha parenta aaaambled In tha vast auditorium, quoting figures to prove tha almoat Impossibility of properly training; the scholars under ftae present conditions. His words Will undoubtedly carry tar in spurr- ing on the movement to demand the completion of the hollow square of Erasmus buildings in the near fu- ture. ^ The exercises were largely attend- ed and far mora impressive than any held at the Flatbush school in years. United States District Court Judge Edwin L. CJarvin, an alumnus of the achool, made the address to the school, telling of humorous incidents during his school life, and striking more serious note in his plea for perserverance, energy, Industry, en- thkuslasm, health and specializing Coupled with higher education. Judge Garvin took occasion to •peak in praise of the wonderful rec- ord made by Hazel Reeves, the honor girl of the class, wha established the unprecedented record of being awarded five medals, in addition to honorable mention for Superior Scholarships in maintaining an av- erage above 90 per cent, in at least three subjects, studied no less than two years. She was awarded the •ramus Hall Medal for the highest Average for four years In all sub- jects; the Turner Medal, highest av- erage senior term; Low Medal, for best all-round girl of the class; Young Medal, for best term essay, and the Fay Social Science prize. In addition, she was the girl leader of Arista. Dr. Low, In his warning of condi- tions to the parents, declares: "When the new term begins on the first of February, there will be 20,846 scholars registered in the city high schools. In Erasmus alone there will be so many •a to make it necessary to fill this auditorium four times to give in- structions and orders to all pupils. The total seating capacity is 3,600, and we will have over 5,300. "I ask you all to co-operate with the civic and other bodies to convince the new president of the Board of Edu- cation, whoever he may be, oil the necessity of our new buildings in the 1922 budget. I believe we will get the new gymnasium this year, and we should have the two new buildings to Complete the square," he declared. Joseph F. Cashman, grade adviser, gave the welcoming address to the Class, according to the programme, hut In reality made his fareweH ad- dress to the school, as he has Just been transferred to Jamaica Training School as assistant head of the Eng- lish department. THE BROOKLYN STANDARD UNION: FRIDAY, JANUARY 27, 1922.

Graduation Exercises in High and Elementary Schools AB appeal for support of tha demand for the early com-

ttstion of Erasmus High School buildings and a note of warning that the overcrowded conditions in Erasmus and all other city klfh schools, unless immediate remedial steps are taken, will prove very detrimental to the proper education of the students ware the outstanding points in the address made to the 185 members of the January class at the semi-annual commencement exercises last evening by the principal, Dr. J. Herbert Low.

Dr. Irew spoke directly and sarn-•etly to tha parenta aaaambled In tha vast auditorium, quoting figures to prove tha almoat Impossibility of properly training; the scholars under ftae present conditions. His words Will undoubtedly carry tar in spurring on the movement to demand the completion of the hollow square of Erasmus buildings in the near future. ^

The exercises were largely attended and far mora impressive than any held at the Flatbush school in years. United States District Court Judge Edwin L. CJarvin, an alumnus of the achool, made the address to the school, telling of humorous incidents during his school life, and striking • more serious note in his plea for perserverance, energy, Industry, en-thkuslasm, health and specializing Coupled with higher education.

Judge Garvin took occasion to •peak in praise of the wonderful record made by Hazel Reeves, the honor girl of the class, wha established the unprecedented record of being awarded five medals, in addition to honorable mention for Superior Scholarships in maintaining an average above 90 per cent, in at least three subjects, studied no less than two years. She was awarded the • ramus Hall Medal for the highest Average for four years In all subjects; the Turner Medal, highest average senior term; Low Medal, for best all-round girl of the class; Young Medal, for best term essay, and the Fay Social Science prize. In addition, she was the girl leader of Arista.

Dr. Low, In his warning of conditions to the parents, declares: "When the new term begins on the first of February, there will be 20,846 scholars registered in the city high schools. In Erasmus alone there will be so many •a to make it necessary to fill this auditorium four times to give instructions and orders to all pupils. The total seating capacity is 3,600, and we will have over 5,300.

"I ask you all to co-operate with the civic and other bodies to convince the new president of the Board of Education, whoever he may be, oil the necessity of our new buildings in the 1922 budget. I believe we will get the new gymnasium this year, and we should have the two new buildings to Complete the square," he declared.

Joseph F. Cashman, grade adviser, gave the welcoming address to the Class, according to the programme, hut In reality made his fareweH address to the school, as he has Just been transferred to Jamaica Training School as assistant head of the English department. He has taught In Erasmus for eight years.

Stop eating meat for a while if your Bladder is troubling

you.

Why is a girl popular? Look around and see what a good time the good-looklng ones have all the time. Men seek them e-ut and a«k them to parties, dancca and'entertainments. And notice that it is not the dall-face type j real men like most, but the red-) blooded girl with "pep" and happy good nature. Any girl who is tired and languid and has a poor complexion and dull eyes can improve her condition and be far happier if she will simply take Gude's Pepto-Man-gan antil she baa put her blood into good condition. Red blood means "full of lite" and "full of Ufa* usually means happiness.

Try Gwde'g Pepto-Mangan and see how much better yen feet. Doctor* have used It nearly thirty years for weak, run-down people. It helps them get well. Sold in both liquid and tablet form,—Adv.

When you wake up with backache and dull misery In the kidney region it generally means you have been eating too much meat, says a well-known authority. Meat forms uric acid which overworks the kidneys in their effort to filter It from the blood, and they tecome sort of paralysed and loggy. When your kidneys get sluggish and clog you must relieve them, like you relieve your bowels; removing all the body'a urinous waste, else you have backache, sick headache, dlzsy spells; your stomach sours, tongue is coated, and when the weather Is bad you have rheumatic twlngea The urine is cloudy, full of sediment, channels often get sore, water scalds and you are obliged to seek relief two or three time* during the night.

Either coneult a good, .reliable physician at once or get from your pharmacist about four ounces of Jad Salts; take a tablespoonrul in a glass of water before breakfast for a f«w days and your kidneys will then act fine. This famous MIL* is made from the a d d of grapes and lemon juice, combined with lithla, and has been used for generations t o alaan and stimulate sluggish kidneys, also to neutralise acids in tha urine so it no longer Irritates, thus ending bladder weakness,

Jad Salts is a life saver for regular meat eaters. It is Inexpensive, r-annot injure and makes a delightful), effervescent lithia-water drink.— Adv. i
