ADVERBIAL CLAUSES

Much evidence points to a relationship between stress and disease ---- claims that stressful life events and daily routines cause various diseases are still premature. A) since B) if C) once D) only when

E) but

arkadaşlar hemen “E” seçeneğine yani “but” bağlacını seçeceklerdir.

As / Because / Since / Seeing that / In that / Inasmuch as / On the grounds that / Now that + cümle

“Now that” ifadesi genellikle “diğine göre / madem ki” şeklinde çevirilir ve sadece Present yapılar ile kullanılır (genelde de Present Perfect) Çevirimizi de genelde (hmmm, madem ki böyle oldu / böyle olduğunu göre ……. böyle olur / olacaktır / olabilir) şeklinde yaparız.

“for” ifadesi diğerlerinden farklı olarak ilk cümlenin başında kullanılamaz.

“in that” ifadesi genellikle “-mesi bakımından / -den dolayı” şeklinde çevrilir. Kendinden sonra cümle alır. İsim alan şekli ise “in terms of” ifadesidir.

Arada tekrar etmekte, kendimize hatırlatmakta fayda var: “inasmuch as” “because” demektir! “much as” “though” demektir!

10. KISALTMALAR (REDUCTION)

Zarf Cümleciği: While I was walking to school, I met Jane. Kısaltılmış Tamlama: While walking to school, I met Jane. Zarf Cümleciği: Before I left for work, I had a shower. Kısaltılmış Tamlama: Before leaving for work, I had a shower. Zarf Cümleciği: Before it was marketed, the drug was tested on animals. Kısaltılmış Tamlama: Before marketed, the drug was tested on animals.
