Sew WhatEverSew WhatEverSummer Newsletter 2017

Sew WhatEverNow that we are in our NEW LOCATION, we are enjoying the amazing Class Studios. They pro-vide wonderful space where we all can work on projects and enjoy the friendships. The PIGS

were “sew” much fun to see completed! Thanks to all who shared their projects as they fi nished them. The “TECHNI”row has been growing each month, and there are more rows to come that will

expose you to many new things. Don’t miss any of the fun.

Work in ProgressWednesday, May 31 6 to 9 p.m.Class fee: $10 Today is National Speak in Complete Sentences Day. So, no LOL or ASAP or WIP’s. So if you must Laugh Out Loud, As Soon As Possible at your Work In Progress, you will need to say or type it completely. But don’t let that stop you from uncovering more of your projects that seem to be stashed away unseen.

WIP’SWednesday, June 7 6 to 9 p.m.Class fee: $10 Today is National Chocolate Ice Cream Day . All you need is chocolate ice cream, but who says you have to stop there? Have it in a cone or in a bowl, add sprinkles or syrup on top - there are endless possibilities. Just remember to fi nd a new WIP to work on while you are enjoying your ice cream.

“TECHNI”Row - Dizzy DaisyWednesday, June 14 6 to 9 p.m.Class fee: $10 plus suppliesTaught by Paula Jordan Dizzy Daisy Quilt by Missouri Star Quilt Co. is so much fun! By using a simple snowball-style block, you will create this fun row.

WIP’SWednesday, June 21 6 to 9 p.m.Class fee: $10 Today is National Selfi e Day. Today we are encouraged to take creative (appropriate) selfi es and share them on social media. Just think of the projects you can selfi e with to show off the amazing work you’ve been accomplishing. How many can you do?

WIP’SWednesday, June 28 6 to 9 p.m.Class Fee $10 Today is National Paul Bunyan Day. Described as a giant and a lumberjack of unusual skill, Paul Bunyan inspires us to dream and believe BIG! Find those big projects that you keep avoiding and bring them to fi nish. Then, feel as big as Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox.

NO SEWWHATEVERWednesday, July 5

Today is National Apple Turnover Day. Apple turnovers are amazing to eat, and tonight you will have a chance to enjoy one while you sew at home. See you next week!

For the Summer Quarter, May to August 2017, we want to enjoy 18 weeks of “Sweet Escape.” Escape with us and take care of your WIP’s (Work In Progress) this summer. Look through all your WIP’s and decide: • What ones to keep and work on. • What ones to give away. • To take care of the ones that just need to be thrown away. • To rediscover things in the ones needing to be disassembled.Let’s WIP your projects in shape as when they are unfi nished, they take up room in your homes and clog up your brain.

WIP’SWednesday, July 19 6 to 9 p.m.Class fee: $10 On this day in 1969, Apollo 11’s crew set foot on the moon. Reach for the moon yourself and fi nd an idea, a project that stretches your imagination and challenges you to try new things. We know that you bought such a project - now it’s time to pull it out and reach for the stars.

WIP’SWednesday, July 26 6 to 9 p.m.Class fee: $10 Today is National Aunt and Uncle’s Day. Be the best aunt/uncle in the world by fi nishing the quilt you started for someone and actually giving it to them. Baby quilts can become Eagle Scout quilts quite nicely. Fill family lives with laughter and love.

Jelly Roll Race Quilt #3Wednesday, August 2 6 to 9 p.m.Class fee: $10 Today is National Coloring Book Day. Coloring has always been a way of entertaining kids. Now we as adults have found out that it is fun and it also reduces stress. But we have found that sewing does the same thing. We are having so much fun with our jel-lyroll races! We are ready to do it again! Jellyroll Race #3 has a new twist - tri-angles! Check the supply list, grab a jelly roll and come join the race. Get ready, get set, SEW!

“TECHNI”Row - Dresden PlateWednesday, August 96 to 9 p.m.Class fee: $10 plus suppliesTaught by Annette RawlinsonThis easy Dresden Plate quilt block technique takes all of the fuss out of turning under the pointed blades of the plate. It is usually seen using reproduction fabrics, but the blocks are just as lovely when sewn using any fabrics or a specifi c color scheme. Gather up your techni-row fabrics and join us in creating this fun row to add to your techni-row quilt.

WIP’SWednesday, August 16 6 to 9 p.m.Class fee: $10 Today is National Tell a Joke Day. What would be better then spending the day laughing? How about spending it sewing and laughing with friends? Find the WIP that needs to be worked on while fun and laughing is going on around you.You know you are a Quilter If …•There’s more fabric in the house than food.•“Fat quarters” are not the heaviest part of your body.•Your ironing board is always up but you never iron clothes.•You think of your job as an interruption of your quilting time.•You pet fabric.•People are always picking threads off you.•You can measure a scant 1/4 by eye.•“Featherweight” doesn’t mean boxer.•You clean up your sewing room and your family thinks you are moving out.

WIP’SWednesday, August 23 6 to 9 p.m.Class fee: $10 Today is National Ride the Wind Day. What would it be like to ride the wind? For us, we feel like we are fl ying high when we accomplish and complete a WIP. Then we go where the wind blows as we fi nd new projects to challenge us.

WIP’SWednesday, August 30 6 to 9 p.m.Class fee: $10 Today is National Toasted Marshmallow Day. Time for a toast - we have come to the end of another great chal-lenge! How many WIP’s did you get done? Did the group fi nish more than the 42 PIGS from last quarter? Find out who the winners are from this challenge and fi nd out what is in store for next quarter.
