For thousands of years the strength and character ofnatural stone and granite have shaped our finestbuildings. That tradition remains affordable and practicaltoday, thanks to our innovative Aerolite products: Granite,Stonework and Ultralite.

Our stringent engineering process slices the granite andstone to thicknesses of between just 5mm and 15mm,then bonds and reinforces it using patented techniques, before rigorous testing confirms compliance with currentUK building regulations.

The Ti-G horizontal carrier is the generic rail for all our ‘Kerf’ grooved

fix systems. It can be used for both landscape and portrait installations.

It also lends itself to both stack and stretcher bond layouts.

Ti-G is very straightforward to install significantly cutting costs and

installation time.

Ti-A is our undercut anchor system and is primarily specified where

large portrait panel layouts are required, or where building

regulations specifically ask for this type of mechanical fix.

IDP Architects, whom specialise in station design for Scotrail, approached T.I.Tiles International Ltd for alternative solutions inmaintaining an unmanned station and the problems this attracts.

This required materials that were robust, resistant to vandalism andeasy to clean. The construction of the station also required a simplelight weight solution.

Dynamic Facades, Aerolite Granite was selected as it not only metall of the performance criteria, but also created a quality aestheticfinish for the project.

Accelerated Weathering and Ageing Testing

IBIS (Independent Building Investigation Services) associatemember of the Stone Federation UK conducted Weatherometertesting to simulate natural weathering attack on organic materialssuch as resins. Testing was conducted to assess any changes inthe flexural strength and pull-off resistance. Petrographicexamination was undertaken to provide a more direct assessmentof the bonding.

Findings concluded that the bonding between the two stonematerials in Aerolite Stonework was greater than the strength ofthe sandstone that formed the facing. The bonding was alsoresistant to the weather conditioning.

Accelerated Weathering andAgeing Testing was carried out tothe following BS EN regulations:

The four point Flexural Strengthtesting was in accordance withBS EN 13161

The Pull-off Resistance testingwas in accordance with BS 1542

When designing The Core, London architects Coleman Partnersdecided to use the Dynamic Facades, Aerolite Stonework due to itsease in co-ordination with the curtain walling system.

Contractors Miller Construction and Drawn Metal both agreed onthe unique lightweight advantages of the Aerolite system.

This removed the works package normally associated with a stonemason’s package and it was successfully installed by the curtainwalling company to everyone’s delight.

ADF Architects in designing a new Sainsbury’s supermarket inPrestwick were looking for a quality facade solution to soften andadd quality to the design and the immediate local.

They had used the Dynamic Facades, Aerolite Ultralite stonesuccessfully at a previous Sainsbury’s in Strathven and, in addition, decided to add our Creaton terracotta rain-screen to the Prestwickdesign. The two products worked very well together, to thesatisfaction of the architect, client and planners.

Both systems, being of the Dynamic Facades lightweight technology, could therefore be applied directly on to the outer face of theEurobond Rainspan panel system as a complete through-wallsolution.
