1. Number Line

Vocabulary

1) Coordinate plane – A plane in which the coordinate system has been set up.

2) Horizontal axis – The horizontal number line in a coordinate plane: the x-axis.

3) Vertical axis – The vertical number line in a coordinate plane; the y-axis.

4) Origin – The intersection of the axes on a a coordinate plane associated with the ordered pair (0,0).

5) Quadrant – One of the four regions into which the coordinate axes separate a coordinate plane.

6) Graph of an ordered pair – The point in a coordinate plane associated with an ordered pair. (x, y)

7) Plot a point – Locate the graph of an ordered pair in a number plane.
