GEA Refrigeration Technologies

The new BluAstrum series of Grasso chillers provides compact-

ness and efficiency at its best. For the heart of the completely

new chiller range GEA developed a high-efficiency compressor

series with speed-control, frequency inverter, and variable Vi for

maximum full- and partial-load efficiency. As a result BluAstrum

sets new benchmark for ESEER values. The advanced control

system GSC TP ensures reliable operation with maximum effi-

ciency with customer oriented communication features. Its com-

pactness enables customers to replace older chillers easily with

this high efficiency Grasso chiller range. As an option, a new

housing is available to reduce noise levels even further. The fi-

nal series of the new design will comprise six chiller types with

a capacity range from 500 kW to 2,000 kW with operating con-

ditions between -15 °C and +15 °C. Grasso chillers are using only

natural refrigerant ammonia for sustainable and environmental

friendly solutions.

System control GSC TP

The new Grasso System Control GSC TP ensures a reliable opera-

tion of the chiller with an easy menu structure and extended

functionalities. One of the major novelties is the optimized

sequence control and the easy network setup.

Evaporator with integrated separator

The new flooded evaporator design combines compactness and

exceptional high efficiency by offering low approach tempera-

tures. The evaporator is equipped with an internal liquid separa-

tor and is connected to an automatic oil return system reutilizing

the oil.

Condenser

The highly efficient condenser works at very low approach tem-

peratures that minimize the TCO.

Expansion control system

The chiller is able to utilize floating condensing temperature and

the liquid level is controlled at a minimum level to minimize the

entire refrigerant charge and to maximize efficiency.

Enclosure

As an option a compact enclosure can be delivered offering a re-

duced noise level.

Grasso CM - the new high efficient

screw compressor

The new screw compressor Grasso CM is characterized by a small

size and high efficiency. The Vi adoption ensures optimum effi-

ciency at all operating conditions. The generous internal flow

paths give the compressor a very low noise level and the simple

oil circuit with less mechanical parts lowers the service demand

and the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).

Variable speed drive (VSD)

The variable speed drive operation ensures the best possbile part

load efficiency and steady process temperature at all capacity

levels. The starting current is very low compared to traditional

starters.
